I have a 30DN BWS-5B i want to make the shocks /suspension a little more responsive. Lighter shock oil is my first change however I don't know what comes in them stock. any ideas????

Thanks in advance

Lighter oil will make it less responsive. Best I can tell ya is how I got mine. 45wt all round w/ the orange losi springs. It jumps better, less body roll and less traction roll overs.

I'm looking for it to travel over rough areas smoother. I have a traxxas UDR that is perfect. This is rough and bounces over everything. I pulled one shock and checked the fluid and it's like what would be in a center diff. I found nothing on line. this is a BWS-5b that I build a roll cage for and mounted a 5T body on. turned of pretty good.

I thought about trying the DTT springs. #'s are diff but not sure i want to do springs yet. Thought I would start with oil.

I've done that before :ROFLMAO: diff fluid in the shocks :ROFLMAO: Late night trying to get ready for next day.... If the oil in your shocks is that thick then it's an issue. Swap it out, it'll cost $15 and take about an hour 👍

Yea I'd start over with a known oil in the shocks meaning start over refill them and try again then go heavier on springs. Plus adjust the pre load as needed and if your at max adjustment then the springs need to be heavier. I have about an inch of preload on the collars on the ddm springs and it's good.

Thanks for all the input..............I will explain a little further.......As i drive across the back yard the car bounces as it hit every little inperfection. The desire is to have a little give and absorb. my collars aree all the way up in the front and about 1/4 pre in the rear. A heavier spring will make it worse IMO. this is why I want to play with oil first. A softer spring will lower my ride height if i leave my collars as they are. and induce chassis slap. I need to speed up the shock travel....I believe this will be accomplished by lighter oil not harder spring. harder or stiffer spring would add to the issue....

This a converted BWS-5B with 5T body mounted on it. So I can't compare it to the 5ive as the suspension is not the same.

The hole count and size of holes in the shock pistons will change dampening rate as well. Really your just going to have to experiment, as it's not a popular model.
agreed. I was hoping to find out whet is stock so I don't waste time and money buying what is already in it. In addidtion I got it brand new like 350 off.

So what is a BWS-5B? Rc is trial and error so plan on wasting money getting it the way YOU want because everyone as you see has different expectations for their rigs.
