think i might have to get a 4WD slash down the line, their just sooo much fun!

nope not since the 80's and 90's when they had good quality unassembled kits ;)

jeez everyone ive come accross reckon the traxxas slash are durable out of the box, like the e-revo and a few other traxxas products.

but each to their own.

once i get these arms im going to give it another flogging.

if you like them more power to you bud i just don't but i set my standards higher than the newbie crowd having been into rc for some time. one word of advise/caution, i have noticed that the revo style clutch on teh traxxas electric vehicles is kind difficult to get correct when you reassemble it, that is when yu have to replace teh clutch pads on it, it will be difficulty to get the spur gear perfectly center. so if you have to replace this style clutch and you start chewing up spur gears check thespur gear holder for how off center it might be ;).

anyway i would have went with a blitz, an sc10, T4, or something that i could get in unassembled kit form myself ;)

cheers for the advice.

still no sign of the new arms so looks like the slash will be on the shelf this weekend. maybe a good thing, the FG's were starting to get a bit neglected.

I must admit I'm right there with you on that note...
Although I do like all Traxxas models a lot.....they will NEVER match up to my old Traxxas TRX1.....they were in my eyes the BEST car they produced......ever..at $600+ for the bare kit they weren't exactly a basher being carbon and all....

I'd do almost anything to get another one....the only thing I would change would be to whack a VXL tranny up it's bum....with a ball diff of course...

I won the Tassie state title with this car 3 years running!:cup-1:

Go Traxxas!!!

having played with the kit forms back in the very early 90,s mainly from tamiya they where nice but not as common over here and part and price made it hard for us aussies back then.

i love my traxxas merv one of the best for bucks rc ive had in 20 years part are just to cheap and easy to come by.

i have run 31 stock nimh batteries and 30 x 2s lipo,s 10 x 3s lipo that i remembered to wright down and im still on the first clutch pad pad or slipper clutch what ever they are called.

i have changed spur gears im on my second spur gear cause i wanted to gear down, still used the original bearing, pin, spring, pad and lock nut and its kind of fool proof for me i do it with the gear box out on the merv.

though i did have a slight wobble on the new second spur gear causing a slight tight spot, not sure if it was from shipping or sitting in a 50 degree c aprox 120 degree Fahrenheit shed for a long time, or what your talking about.

i set the gear mesh on the tight spot and have not had any problems and now after many battery packs there is no tight spot :) my only complant the vxl runs a tad hot if you realy want to push it but with common sence slightly shorter gears they will keep going and they do go :)

Complete set of AKA CityBlocks mounted

AKACityBlocks1Small.webp

Close up of the Rim

AKACityBlocks2Small.webp

Tread pattern, prolly wont last long but should offer max grip at the knox track (im hoping)

AKACityBlocks3Small.webp

They should grip just fine...just make sure you back the slipper clutch off a bit to keep the wheelspin to a minimum...then it will go in a straight line....and your tyres won't be slicks after 2 batteries...

slipper clutch??? your speaking to a electical noob mate, how do I do that?

I do notice though it tends to single spin one wheel allot when cornering (like my FG MT did) but in a straigh line it will bake both rears :D

put the new arms on the slash last night, got the new tires on and gave it a quick squirt in the back yard, man its a whole different truck now! I can actually controll a slide LOL, cant wait to try it out at the track.

also gave the charging board a go last night, worked perfect, charged 2 lipo's at 7 amps, so giving it 3.5 each and they balanced each one perfectly, very happy!

The slipper clutch is part of the spur...there is a rubber plug thingy on the spur gear cover...behind that will be a nut...righty tighty, lefty loosey,...
It's basically mechanical traction control...
