Decided to upgrade my chicken farming capabilities with a new coop. Right now I have 30 birds crammed into a 6×8 coop. Its old, small, and the rodents get in far to easy. So I decided to go large. New one is 15×15 with 10 ft ceilings, so I can do a loft for grain storage. Thinking I can go up to 60 birds. Cha Ching egg money??20200620_165009.jpg
Should be close to done in a few weeks.

Sick bro, love your surroundings. I grew up in a farm on the side of a mountain in colombia. Nearest town was over a 2hr drive. It was beautiful and I sure miss it.
Currently I live in the city in sunny south Florida it fuçking sucks
Thats awesome. Im hopeful to go to Venezuela some day with the ole lady to see her family. Its obviously not possible now though, due to socialism forcing people to eat their pets. Hopefully it will get sorted soon, id love to see it.

My space isn't that remote. Im only on about 12 acres, and can see 7 other house from my spread. Its a development neighborhood, but I happen to have the last big piece from when it was a active dairy farm. Its still nice though.

We use to do chickens when I was a kid?? we'd buy 100 day olds start feeding them up??? eat all the roosters ? save the hens for eggs?? the only thing is the smell???
Chickens don't stink, ducks do. Ducks are absolutely filthy. Probably gonna get 20 or so eventually. Duck eggs bring 10-12 bucks a dozen. While chickens only bring 3-4.

3-4 for a dozen your off your rocker $2 tops around here for fresh off the farm eggs. Man I need to move up with you, I'd make a killing screwing everyone over like that
Just simple economics my man. EVERYTHING is more expensive here. Gas is still $2.30 the average small house is 200k+ and a pack of smokes is fast approaching $12. So our farm fresh eggs are $3-4 and at the random spot even more?‍♂️ gotta pay those commie taxes somehow?‍♂️?

Out eggs are cheap here, but everything else is pricey as hell

They don't last much past lunchtime before selling out. Im not sure what a dozen eggs is in the store. But it must be at least $2. So a bit more for farm fresh seems reasonable. At $2 it wouldn't be worth my time and likely wouldn't be profitable.

Ducks fekin multiply fast!......

I was given 3 ducks one time ,a Drake with 2 Hens ,before I knew it ,I had fekin 40 ducks ,I finally had to give them to my uncle
as he lived on a ranch!....:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Went to the store website and eggs are 1.69 for storebrand, 2.89 for egglands best. When I sell mine its 3.25 for smaller eggs and 400 for the jumbos. So at most im .75 over premium egg price in town. I assure you my eggs are much better. 100% organic, and less than 12hrs old when brought to market. ?‍♂️

I hate em. But ill carve them off a 1/3 acre at the farthest point from my house for what their eggs bring. Really trying to get my farm to pay for its self. Doing absolutely nothing, it costs me around 18k a year to own the land. A very large sum to me. Even if I can break even Id be happy. Planted almost 30 fruit trees. 20 berry bushes, doing eggs, looking for a cheap hay rake and bailer. I think I may turn a small profit with all of that.?‍♂️

My mate has 65 acres. He rents his tillable land out and that pays the taxes and about 2/3 of his mortgage a year. He rents the summer house to some dumb kid and that pays the rest of his mortgage. Lucky bastard. Wish I could luck out like that....
Hey 21bb so if we could figure out a way to ship duck and may be goose eggs up to you every day....?

Ya thats my goal. No house on the land to rent, and I don't want squatters anyways, so thats out. Have a small building with a apartment and 1 buisness I rent and never again, tenants in general SUCK. I have a solid 9 acres of good pasture to hay, but the equipment is ? and my tractor is only 24 pto hp so pickens are slim for small equipment. Might be a excuse for a bigger tractor.?‍♂️

So let me hit you with this. When we were on the farm, biggest tractor we had was 74 hp. I would actually bale hay with the 504 which in think was 50ish hp. And less at the pto. So 24 is a bit low, but an older tractor wouldnt be out of the question. I could pull the baler and 3 full wagons of hay with that 504. Think we sold it for about 2k back in the day. Wish I had kept one of them now....

I never worked on the farm ,however ,have a friend that doesn't even own property ,he rents the acreage from someone one else ,
grows & irrigates it ,but I am not sure if he harvest it ,he may co-ops the earnings from a local harvester company!

They do make smaller bailers. The little round bailers I could run. I just don't think id have the oompf to run a regular size machine. Or if I did it would be so slow I could rake it up faster.? To big a investment to gamble on. Might finance a new kubota large L or small M. I think the larger L's approach 70hp, and they put more to the pto than the older machines.
@21bangbang you don’t need a fuçking tractor or heavy equipment to farm marijuana. Stop wasting my time and get to growing! I need a good plug ??
Oh, I have some going. I don't grow anything great though. Looks good, but is usually just ok.?‍♂️ Im not a green thumb at all. Seeds go in the dirt and I get what I get. Zero maintenance.?‍♂️

bro all you need is healthy soil and quality seeds to produce some good Mj

my brother in colombia grows his own similar to you. Something I learned from him was he puts ground worms in his soil, turns out those fiddlestickers will keep the soil extra healthy.
My land was a dairy farm for 150ish years I think. Sometime in the mid 1800's. The soil is rich 3-4' down. In spots I could cut the grass 3 times a week if we get rain. I just don't have the curing down pat. Its very important to the final product
