Nah Doug start doing 10+ cords a year and see how much you like swinging an axe. Hydro saves the shoulders and back, especially if you have a log lift.

The next splitter I build will be more of a mini processor, 4 and 6 way wedges. As much as I like "cheap heat" I spend way too much time processing it.

I have a 6 way off a timber wolf processor i was given. Tried to make it work on my current splitter. Have enough cylinder, but couldn't get the wedge mounted right, kept ripping it off. .

Nah has a 5 inch cylinder on it. The single wedge does fine on it, the added pressure actually ripped the weld from the beam, after bending the ears of the beam first. Actually had to weld a big plate behind the wedge to tie it into the beam better. The beam just isn't heavy enough for a bigger wedge.
Here you can see where the beam bent, and ripped the wedge off, then there's the plate that got welded on the back to tie it in better to the beam. Version two will be a but different so I can move the wedge up and down, and change out from a single, 4 or 6 way wedges. Just need the time and money to get materials to start the project. We'll I need to finish up other projects first as well.
