all i got the other day was a big ass wasp, fecker was huge, its now an ex wasp though

With a dragon in the house (not the wife) you know you'll have no bugs or spiders, happily have a bearded dragon in there.

I rescued him from from the waste bin of the grape crusher my wife is fixing him up. ...got some broke bones

Nah he is a wild lizard and must get put back

Came home one day to find this in the middle of the back yard.
It's a Monitor Lizard about 3 + feet long.
My 2 dogs were ignoring it and it wasn't moving so I thought it was dead.
I touched it with a long handled shovel and it jumped leaving me to change my undies.
They're harmless but scary looking.
Fortunately they can't reach around to bite their tails so I threw a towel over it and picked it up by the tail and released it in the bush across the road.
I've had a couple more since but only about half the size of this one.

Don't think so.
The ones in the pic you posted look more like Goannas.
The ones I've had around the house have triangular shaped tails.
Look a lot like a sand monitor which makes sense being at the beach.
