the mini 1/16 e revo is ment to have a water proof esc, servo battery box and the motor can get when, but yesterday i wasnt keen of testing whats water proof or not lols and i hate the mud pull downs to clean rc,s been there and done that to many times

on my lunch break today i ran the dodgy traxxas battery out the front of my house and it lasted just over 10 mins, but when i put it back on charge it stopped charging again at 550mah so i put it back on charge again and got another 550mah out of it, ill through it in the bin once my lipo,s get here.

after work we took it down the park again for a little spin i ran the two stock batteries i got 7 mins out of the dodgy battery and just over 10 mins with the good one, my wife was more intrested in driving it then taking any footage, witch is a good thing as my camera isnt that flash at vid, we had a blast out of it doing a few wheelies and jsut driving around.

we have ran 8 battery backs through this thing now and loving it, i broke the rtr rc rule as i still have not checked over the screws, nuts and bolts ive just driven it, normaly i would check every thing over and pull it apart, but not for this one ive just been driving it and have a ball with the little monster truck.

the rear shocks have a slight weep im not to fussed at this point ill keep driving it till it wont drive any more, then ill look at it then, im hopping my lipo,s will be here tomorow with my y harnesses and conectors but i think its pushing it and mabe then will be here next week as then only left hobby king in hong kong on the 28th.

the little mini e revo is tiny but it sure looks big next to the brushless losi micro-dt

Changed colour now!!
Metallic green highlights instead of red - that body was trashed by my foot as well - to be honest I was looking for an excuse !!
I've too many red cars / trucks !!

Parma make a buggy body as well. Tempted but need to stabilise cashflow again after Christmas !!

well its lunch time and my lipo,s are not here yet, i knew it was a long shot that they would get here today for tomorows bash, any way last night i brought another 2 x zippy 7.4v 2s 20c 2200mah lipo,s, 2 x zippy 11.1v 3s 20c 1800mah lipo,s an Parallel charging Board for 6 lipo,s 2 to 6S lipo packs, so now i can charger more then one pack at a time, or atlest the fireworks will be good lols, i brought some other connectors and some heat shrink, you got to love hobby king 0.25 cents for a metre of heat shrink, i also got an rpm front bumper as i had 10 bucks left over in my paypal, today after work ill take the revo out for a squirt int he park, but i cant break it till after saterday lols

im realy impressed with the traxxas high output 2.4ghz radio on 4 aa half flat rechargabiles im getting over 120 meters (360 foot) of range out of it, i could of got more i quess but i ran out of room to test it out.

i would like to see what range you can get out of it with some new none rechargable batteries with enough room, the trouble is after 100 meters ( 300 foot ) its not the easyest car to see lols.

i ran another 2 stock battery packs yesterday after work and had a blast unfortunaly my wife enjoys running it as much as me so i only got to run one pack myself lols.

im about to go over my old mans place and have a bash with him and his merv we got him, might get the trex 450se out and the clone heli if hes charged up the lipo,s.

my lipo,s did get here yesterday (friday) so ill see if i can brorrow one of his rhino lipo,s to try out, but i might be pushing my luck lols

yesterday we had a blast running the merv,s, it was hot were we where around 38 degree,s (38 °C = 100.4 °F) so there was only a few quick video,s of the first run way to hot for my wife to to stay out there filming, we ended up running for a couple of hours and had 2 chargeres going flat out for 6 hours lols, befor we ran them i changed my pinion from the stock 28t pinion to the 23t pinion for running twin batteries in series, so i could run 2 x 7.2v nimh in series but in the first 5 mins i crashed my merv over a drain into a embankment and popped a rear left drive shaft out, i popped it back in and kept driving it, but i switch over to the parellel y harness as series is just to nuts on that ground to hard to controll and it just wanted to wheelie and flip over all the time.

my old man was running the rhino 7.2v 2s 25c 1750 mah lipo,s getting a good run time of just under 20mins, and i was getting just over 20 mins running 2 x 7.2v nimh in parellel with the 23t pinion (stock pinion 28t) after the first run my old man switch to the 23t pinion as well to try out and to try and keep things running cooler, we both notice a little less top end but the cars where more playfull and had better low to mid power, since we both have changed the pinions to 23t from the stock 28t pinions i think we will leave the pinions at 23t yes we will loose some top end but i think the 23t is better for stuffing around.

we moved around to diffrent spots around the stables, doing some jumps, speed runs and drags, i won most of the drags cause the 2 x 7.2v nimh in parellel was more contolible and easyer to keep in a straight line and i think i might be a bit better with throttle control and my old man is new to rc cars realy but every now and then he used to drive my nitro,s and my large scale gassers, you can tell the diffrence between the lipo,s more power and more top end running one lipo over the nimh in parellel, the nimh are also alot heavery and i had to run two at a time just to match his run times lols.

the ground we ran on was gravely clay with grass over it in most spots, the ground was very hard and bumpy we both where sure we would break some thing, but didnt the cars copped a hamering, they both where chrashed lots, flipped loads of times and there was some impressive cartwheel,s done, i did pop a rear left drive shaft out in the first 5 mins but it never came out again even though i tryed, i started going full throtle forward hitting the gravely clay spots with no grass on it, spinning the car around nailing full throttle forward and pulling some sick wheelies and alot of reverse into forwad spins (180 degree power slides) and the drive shaft never came out, so i was happy as i was sure if it came out in the first 5 mins it would keep comming out again.

the merv,s jump pritty well and are controllible in the air, they tend to bottom out alot so it will be intresting to try these traxxas firmer front and rear springs to see if that helps, i think it will help as i was runnign the twin nimh packs in parellel this adds a bit of wait to the little monster truck as they are heavery the the lipo,s, all in all we both were admazed by the merv,s, tuff fast relible as we did hit a few hard objects like trees and sleepers and killed a few garden lights, the radios where sweet loads of range and no drammers running side by side and the tyre wear is great i spent 20 mins doing do nuts on hard geavely clay with very minium tyre wear.

both cars undercarge are scratch up from the hard ground, both rear wings are beat up from wheelies, both cars do have a little wear on the rear tyres, both have lost the new car smell. my old mans merv has now run 5 x lipo,s 2 x single nimh and one 2 x nimh in parellel and mines now run equal run time to 22 single nimh batteries and still going strong great relible cars, i can wait for my lipo,s to be here so i can get longer run times i should be able to run for 45 + mins on 2 x 7.4v 2s 20c 2200mah zippy lipo,s in parallel,

even though it was so hot and some of the grass where where running it was a bit long no cars hit thermal shut down, motor temps where hot but the electric speed controllers where always a little cooler, the lipo,s always came out of my old mans car at room temperture and the nimh always came out hot as, i would be intrested to see if running 2 x lipo,s in parellel getting run times of 40 odd mins witht he 23t pinion if they would hit thermal shut down, i guess we will find that out later once my lipo,s are here.

my wife did take a few vid,s for my, but she was standing back in the shade so you cant realy see much and its hard to see from the vidoe whos car is who,s and we didnt realy get into it untill the second run of batteries, there was some cool stuff after the second lot of battery through the day that wasnt caught of film and these few vid,s of the first batteries where a bit dull but we had a blast and put the merv,s though hell afterwards lols.

vidoe one is my old mans (blue) merv running 28t pinion with 1 x 7.4v 2s 25c 1750mah lipo, my (red) merv running 23t pinion with 2 x 7.2v 1200mah nimh in series.

video two is my old mans (blue) merv running 28t pinion with 1 x rhino 7.4v 2s 25c 1750mah lipo, my (red) merv running 23t pinion with 2 x 7.2v 1200mah nimh in parellel.

video three is me running my merv with 23t pinion with 2 x 7.2v 1200mah nimh in parellel but the batteries starting to drop off

you cant beat running a couple of rc trucks in the hot sun drinking a few beers and having some laughs, i did forget to mention i got some dirt in my spur gear.pinion enclosure it burred over a couple of teeth on the side of my spur gear and you could feel the mesh wasnt as good, but with a small screw drive we cleaned the teeth that where burred on the side of the spur gear and cleanded the metal pinion remeshed the gears and kept running, we have already ordered some firmer springs and spur gear sets, but today ill order some spare pinions and drive shafts and mabe some other items, for spare for later down the track.

fast little suckers, hard to see them! that's amazing, I remember when anything 1/16 scale would run around the kitchen floor, if you sprayed enough furniture polish (Pledge) you could get the cars to do donuts! Now look at them!

rc has come along way in the 20 years ive played on and off, im uploading some better video of mine from today, you can see the car a bit better.

heres a couple of vid,s of my running the merv today you can see the car better in these vid,s im still using the 23 tooth pinion so the car is slower then what they come out of the box, i also was only running 1 x stock 7.2 volt 1200 mah nimh battery at a time.

im still trying to get the hang of driffting a 4wd model, but had loads of fun, about 4 mins into the first vid you can see where i hit a stump that was sticking out of the ground and i did it again in the start of the second video, the cars fine and still going strong.

well im upto 24 stock nimh batteries through the mini e revo now and loving it, my lip,s and y harnesses should be here next week, looking forward to longer run times and more grunt, today i also orded some new suspention arms, drive shaft and centre shafts, spur gear and gear box parts and 4 new shocks and shock mounts of ebay.com i got them cheap

today we had to go up to the city (perth w.a) so i took the merv along and we when to kings park afterwards and ran a couple of nimh batteries through the merv, then on the way home stopped in at pinjahar and ran one more nimh through the little truck loads of fun.

when i got home there was a card in the letter box some thing to pick up from the local post office, they where shut but i see them every day for work so i was able to sweet talk one of the lady,s to let me in and pick up my package.

i had to trim about 5mm of the battery door for the lipo wiring and balance leads to fit the batteries.

100_3737.webp

we took the little truck down the local park for a quick fang, big diffrence on the lipo,s its like night and day diffrence, more grunt faster and getting run times around 15 mins well i got 14 mins out of the first battery and 17 mins out of the second after a quick charge, any way happy as with the lipo,s more power and longer runs.

my daughter was playing with the camera and has put a smuge on the lense, you can see it in the pictuers, im uploading a video of my first lipo run on the mini e revo now ill post it up soon

here is a qucik vid running 1 x zippy 7.4v 2s 20c 2200mah lipo, im runnign the 23t pinion not the stock 28t pinion, so it would be slower then a stock mini e revo running a 2s lipo battery.

traxxas 1/16 e-revo vxl 2.4ghz 5

i had my first breakage today as well, around the back of the sand pit at the park the lime stone wall sticks out a couple of inches above the ground, i hit the edge/corner running full throttle the cart wheel was impressive, pitty it was not on film, i managed to cut the front a arm cross brace in half lols but i kept driving for another 5 mins or so, ive got some ideas on patching it up to keep running while i wait for spares, atlest it was my fault the truck broke and not the trucks fault.

100_3783.webp

i quess i had to have a breakage sooner or later and theres been times i thought bugger that will bust it but no, so ive been lucky 27 stock nimh batteries through the truck and 2 lipo,s lols.

what do you think of the traxxas connectors?

i like them, they are easyer to connect and disconnect then deans to me, they don't get hot after hard use, i brought bag of clone traxxas connectors they seam good to nice and tight and the y harnesses i brought are clone also, they seam good, im going to convert all my leads over to traxxas as it can handle more current then my tyamia plugs im using now on my charger.

looks like the same wheelie bar that the traxxas rustler runs, in which case its adjustable, so you can leave it high for off road so it doesn't get in the way when jumping and then down low on road so the fronts don't leave the ground much.

That sounds good, I did look at aftermarket wheelie bars but the where alloy and I think they would get bent after one cartwheel this stock plastic one might have more of a chance
