have you had a close look at yours? is it adjustable?

if it is it wont brake, when it starts to carwheel the arms that locks the hight in place just releases and it flaps around.

my mate with the rustle had it clocked at 96 km/h just before it hit a curb and cartwheeled on the road, wheelie bar didnt break, just released, lots of other stuff broke though :D

it sounds like the same wheelie bar, i have not realy had a look at the wheelie bar till today after work when i installed it, looks good thick plastic.

96kmh is dam quick i bet it was a mess after the crash, is this the same wheelie bar ?

yep thats the wheelie bar alright, looks identical.

if you have a big roll just check it coz the upper locking arm releases the bottom arm which saves it from breaking, excellent design.

A few photos of my totally untouched standard VXL !!!!:lol::lol::lol:
(Elastic bands I find necessary after the cutting necessary to fit the extra cables of the 3S LiPo batteries to hold the doors shut if running without a lid.)

I left the Sky remote alongside to remind people of how relatively small these things are despite their huge performance.

i like the green body that looks sweet, ive been using lacky bands also for the ballancing plugs and y harness to keep them out of the way as they can rub on the rear wheel,s

The bright metallic green effect was a 'find' of mine last year - bound to be well known by many.
I think it's like the green Jag used in Jaguar Racing, before Red Bull Racing.
It's fluorescent green backed with flakey/metallic silver instead of white.

Centre skidplate is Integy - fit is perfect and it's not a stress item.
Front/Rear skid plates are thicket and are New Era. A bit of bending is required to ensure the hinge pins don't part company, else no problems. I've had to space the front off the steering pivot with one washer (care with size) to ensure free movement of the steering.
I like coloured skid plates, but I tend to use my trucks, and any plating doesn't stay 'concourse' for more than 5 minutes !!! :D:D:D:D
Shiny Aluminium just scrapes into ... shiney Aluminium ! No problem.

the skid plates on m y merv are hammered they are well stractch uo and have some chunks missing, butt hey still are doing there job, ive seen some stock skid plates sets going for like 5 usd on ebay they are new pull from new kids in a while i might just replace them with stock again, im trying to rid myself of my alloy adiction with this, ive find large scale needs alloy but the little rc,s get there tuffnest from flex and being light weight.

well my suspention arms didnt get here today, so out comes the zip ties, epoxy, duct tape and heat shrink so i can have a quick run over the weekend lols.

well yesterday i realy wanted to have a run, so i epoxyed the suspention arm, then i cut up some zip ties and epoxyed then to the bottom, front and back of the lower suspention arm, then i used a couple of zip ties for some added strengh one each side of the break in the suspention arm.

i thought it would last about 2 mins so i wasnt expecting much at all, but after running 2 x 2200mah 2s lipos (35mins pluss run time) its still holding together, not bad, considering i hit a couple of curbs doing speed runs, i was running in a school they had the sprinklers on and some of the tarmac was wet, so i was doing power sildes and stuff and lost controll a few times.

the traxxas wheel bar does its job and works well i did have a couple of decent cart wheel,s and the hight adjustment clips didnt come undone to my suprise, the wheel bar works best onroad but on grass at its lowest setting it realy doesn't let the car wheelie witch is good as the car sort of squats under power.

me and my old man are taking our merv,s to a bbq out on a station this afternoon so ill see if my zip tie bandaid holds up lols any way heres a quick pic of my patch work.

today i got bored wait to go to this bbq with my old man and run our merv,s so i redid the hobby king parallel adaptor, the hoby king one is longer then the traxxas on and with the longer battery leads on the lipo,s its just to long.

heres a pic you can see how much i chopped off the parallel adaptor.

Didn't know about the Hobby King ones, but I thought the Traxxas ones were a tad short, until I realised just how little room there is in there, once the wires start building up - it's spot on from Traxxas.
Al.

hobby king sell traxxas battery connectors packs of 10 male and 10 female for like 4 bucks usd, they also sell traxxas to tamiya conectors in both male and female and parallel and series y harnesses, and xt60 to traxxas lipo battery connectors and so on, i brought all my conectors, charge cable adaptors, lipo battery adaptors and y harness from hobby king, for about the same price as one traxxas y harness from australia

well sunday me and my old man whent to a bbq out of town on a cattle station, we both ran two lipo,s and two nimh battery backs and had a ball, there was around 30 people there and every one had a good look, my old man let any one including 5 y/os drive is but i didnt let any drive it and was told im a big meany lols.

the ground was very dry and hidden in the 3 inchs of grass was rocks from the size of golf balls to grape fruits, every one said our mervs did amazing tricks and flip,s witch was funny as we didnt do any tricks, but every time the mervs hit a rock to big to slide over then did impressive front flips with 90% of them landing on the wheel,s.

i did pull a sweet back flip only about 6 or 8 foot high of a embankment near the dam, pitty it wasnt caught on film, the range on these traxxas 2.4ghz high out put radios is sweet we where cruzzing aroung more then a footy feild and struggled to see the cars at that distance.

as mentioned the ground was very dry and rocky and we both were worried about the rocks and busting the cars, but these tuff little merv,s didnt break well the dodgy band aid i put on mine broke in the first contact with a rock, but i still ran 4 battery packs through it.

the wheelie bar didnt detach its height adjustment once, but int he dry coditions it wasnt realy needed as it was hard to get much traction out of the dry dusty ground.

yesterday i installed the new lower front a arm that turned iup in the mail and we took the merv out to our local swimming hole to give it a run on hard packed clay i ran 2 x 2s lipo,s in parallel but managed to set off the thermal protection after running through some long weeds and getting them wrapped around the rear wheel,s i turned it off and back on again but uplugged one of the batteries and kept running till one battery was dead then plugged in the second battery and kept running the thermal shut down didnt kick in again.

the ground was ruff as and there was alot of roots sticking out of the ground so the poor merv did a ship load of full throttle flips after hitting roots or stumps it couldnt drive or slide over, but it was fun sliding all over the place, at full throttle it would just spin out and slide all over the place, very hard to control but loads of fun, so when moved over to the other side once the lipos where flat and hooked up 2 x nimh in parrellel.

when we took it over to the other side near where we swim and did some jumps and so on the ground is more loose and dusty over the other side so it was great fun driving around, it was that dusty you could see clouds of dust drifting over thye water my wife whent to take some video, but we left the sd card in her laptop at home so no vid,s.

but here is a pictuer of our loacal swimming hole

well today its was hot and ive been working on my ford falcon futura, so me and the wife had a couple of drinks and took then merv down one of the local parks, i hooked 2 x 2s 20c 2200mah zippy batteries in parallel, we ran for aprox 10 mins till my wife came up with the idea to go to the skate park.

cause i had a few drinks and i thought well i had a cracked rear right susspension arm, from sundays and mondays run i thought while not, also one of my rear wheels foam is disigrated and was full of sand, i thought it was a bent stub axel that was causing the vibration at full throttle but it was running with no inner foam and the wheel full of sand lols.

amy way here is a quick video of my running down the park

after that we drove over to the skate park its not much of a skate park but there was a bowl and a couple of ramps, my wife took a couple of short vid,s but the batteries in out cheapo camera whent flat and the spare batteries where also flat, so my wife was able to take a couple of quick pictuers befor the camera died altogether.

the aftermath

100_3818.webp

i ended up with one cracked rear right upper arm (from the last bash session) one rear tyre foam disintegrated (from a previous bash in water) broken front body mount and a broken front right hub from the skate park and a few more scratches on the body lols.

so tonight from the usa i orded 4 stock replacment mounted tyre sets, 4 new hubs, front and rear body mounts and a bearing kit to replace the bearings from the wheel vibration due the one rear wheeel being full of sand.

ive now run 31 stock nimh batteries and 8 lipo,s so its about time i stepped up a alittle and got some breakages as to me thats alot of battery packs throught the little truck, today with the 2 x 2s 7.4v 20c 2200mah zippy lipo,s i got 10 mins run time t\down the park and 32 mins run time at the skate park so 42 mins run time all up thats not bad more then a large scale gasser, but i used a couple of 9 buck batteries.

there is a couple of short vid,s from the stake park ill have a look tomorow and might upload one
