well today another one of my hobby king orders turned up, 2 more 7.4v 2s 20c 2200mah lipo,s and 2 x 11.1v 3s 20c 1800mah lipo,s witch only just fit the merv but do fit and my parrallel charging board, now i can charge and ballence up to 6 of the same lipo,s at the same time.

ill only use the parrallel charging board when the cells are very close in voltage e.g like if all batteries have come out of the merv at low voltage protection and do seperate single balance charges every now and then my them self,s to keep the batteries in check.

this parrallel charging board will work better with the iCharger 106B-plus 250W 6s Balance/Charger and the p350 15v 23amp 350 watt power supplie ive got comming, i wanted the icharger 206b but i got the smaller one but ill still be able to do 10 amp charges and i will be able to blance and charge 2 x 2s lipo,s at a 2c charge of 8.8amp or 1c charge of 4 x 2s lipo,s at 8.8 amp or charge 6 x 2s lipo,s at 10amp aprox 0.7c and still be quicker then my current charger.

here is a picture of the hobby king order so you know what im talking about

here is another picture of the parrallel charging board after i put traxxas plugs on every thing and , with xt60 adaptors to traxxas connectors charging 2 x 2s lipo,s at 1c charge (total 4.4amps) basicly turned 2 x 2200mah lipo,s into on big 4400mah lipo

i like the parrallel charging board its much better and safer imo then the series conectors and y harness i used to use when charging my heli batteries

with a decent charger you can save upto 5 hours using that parrallel board, and by just charging two at a time with my charger i saved over one hour close to 80 mins

random dribble

batteris are getting better and handling more/higher charge rates price has come way down of the batteries and chargers, the only thing that limets people these days is there imagionation.

i used to fly rc helies 4/5 years ago, i would spend one complete day charging and balancing lipo,s normaly around 8 lipo,s at 80 + mins each around 12 hours of charge time, then i would spend under one hour flying around 6 to 7 mins mins a per lipo normal flight time, then spend the next day and i mean all of it chargine dam lipo,s lols, now as things have become cheaper, batteries and chargers have become better and better priced i could charge the same amount of batteries in 2 hours and spend about the same amount of money on the start up cost, but now i would be using better stuff if that makes sence.

i used to use series lipo balancing leads and charge leads to save time and charge every thing in pairs but you had to plug the batteries in there correct sequnce or there would be fire and sparks lols, the parrallel charging boards have made this safer and easy, and now reasonable priced chargers and batteries with chargers capible of upto 20amps things have become alot quicker and now these isnt as much need for me to run gas rc cars to get long run times and not spend all day charging lipo,s, and i don't have to worry about engine tune and dam airfilters.

more i think about it made a mistake buying the icharger 106b+ as im limmited at 10amps, my first thought was to get the icharger 206b so i could charge upto 20 amps, just think 4 x 2s 2200mah lipo,s charged at one big 8800mah lipo at 2c at 17.6 amps charge time round 20 mins lols, im planing a large ep helie build, using 6 cell 3300mah lipo,s these have a maxium charge rate of 5c 16.5 amps each or a normal charge rated of 8.5amps each i could charge 2 at a time of 33 amps (most chargers max out at 20amps and the parrallel charging board will only handle 30 amps) or a medium charge of 17.6amp so ive realy limited my self with the 250watt 10amp charger dohh, but atlest the charger will be better then my current 5amp 50 watt charger and more acurate.

today there was junk mail in the letter box, so i when to get it and put it in the recycle bin and this was sitting in the letter box, it must off been sitting there since friday lols

I have what seems like a solid chunk of Al for the bumper - no problems with hits.
The problem is the mount - that breaks.

I'm trying out the - wait for it !! - INTEGY spring steel mount. The idea's good and it SHOULD absorb some of the hit when it eventually wanders.

Al.

true i think my front bumper/body mont was broken for a while befor i whent down to the skate park as ive had to push it down to fit the body, the car doesn't realy need the rpm front bumper but a couple of weeks ago i had a few bucks left in my paypal so i brought it, i still am sticking to my plan for now no alloy on this merv, ive read a few usa forums and an aussie forum where people say the mervs need this upgrade and that upgrade, but 41 battery packs the only time mines busted is when ive done soem thing stupid, top little rc trucks me thinks

Hi Sohan

my advice is don't get them wet, if you solder new connectors on them only cut one wire at a time on the lipo and complete one connection at a time to prevent shorts, double check the leads when you plug them in don't reverse them, don't charge them inside the house just incase.

if the lipo is a 5000 mah charge at 1c = 5 amps if its say a 2200mah charge at 2.2 amps if its a 1750 charge at 1.7 amps, 1c is mah divided by 1000

if its a turnigy you can normaly charger them at 2c witch is mah rating divided by 500 if that makes sence.

this might be easyer, is a good guide for charging lipo,s

http://www.2bfly.com/Pages/calculators/lipochargingrate.html

only use a lipo charger, its pays to balcnce charge them it takes longer but the batteries will last longer, i oftern fast charge mine but then every second charge i balance them to keep the cells even.

they are fine to charge upto 2c (8amps) if you want to look after the 4 amp charge will be fine.

if they where mine i would balance charge them at 5 amps as my current charger will only do upto 5 amps, or if i was charging them the night befor i was going to take the car out i would balance charge them at 4 amps each.

2 amp charge might take a couple of hours to charge and balance when flat, but will not hurt them, just rember to set your low voltage cut off for lipo,s on the car, the 2s lipos don't like to go under 6.4 volt or the will be damaged or cause damage and will not take charge agin.

rule of thumb is don't run lipo,s less then 3.2 volt per cell so a 2s1p 6.4v a 3s 8.6v and so on, do what you feel is best and what your confortable with, then once your used to the lipo,s you can play around, they are pritty safe they just don't like water, holes put in them or long electrical shorts as they will make smoke and sparks.

last lipo i shorted out good and propper make pritty blue, green and yellow sparks and make lots of nasty smoke

i didnt realy need the motor plate and motor mount, i only wanted the pinions and spure gear set but it was cheaper to get the lot

100_3823.webp

i got a full set of drive shafts including the centre drive shaft cheap, because the first time i ran nimh in series i crashed into a drain and slammed into the embankment behind it at full throttle and popped a rear drive shaft out, i thought ill need spares, but its never happened again not even down the skate park.

from australia i brought a set of front suspention arms for like $24 aud express shipped it took 6 days to get here, where this full set of suspension arms, suspention hinge pins and bulk head plates where like $18 aud shipped from the usa to australia and 12 days shipping time.

thats a nice delivery :D

those shocks look real short, not much ground clearence hey?

its a mini monster truck it has heaps of ground clearnce, traxxas use a rocker set up on the suspension, the shocks are built into the chassis, you still get a progressive full suspention movment of a good few inch,s on the mini e revo

well im still waiting on a australia express post order made 9 days ago from ultimatetoys.com.au the last express order took 8 days, i know there is flooding on the other side of australia but ive sent stuff through australia post recently and its only taken 4 days tops to s.a and n.s.w so not sure whats going on there, the order is saying pending still and ive had no communication.

i got the bearings since my wheels getting wet and one of my inner foams disintergrating and the wheel filling up with sand cause a nasty vibration so i thought i might replace some bearings soon and some skid plates the front is well worn from hitting stuff and the rear is jsut about worn through.

and some wheels to replace the one full of sand with no inner foam letf.

my power supply also turned up today, its smaller then i though witch is good it works well and holds a constant 15.28 volt and the fan is nice and queit, it came with a usa 120volt 20 amp cord i was going to cut the plug off and install a aussie one but it uses the same cords as most laptop, pc power supply,s and computer monitors so ive put a new aussie 240volt power cord on it i had in the spare computer part box,s, its only rated for 10 amps but i will only be using the power supply with a 10 amp charger for now.
