I feel like you made a good choice with the Vertigo. The T90 is a great tranny as well but seems the Vertigo has better gearing options and just I’ve run the KV5TT with 320rc and 50gt and they both handle like a dream. I wouldn’t say you need the wider arms as the KV5TT with front sway bar is as good as it gets. And the KV5TT just looks so good running hard.

Never did the Teflon wrap on shock threads. Used the recommended Orings they mention in one of their YouTube build videos. The orings work great. Caps don’t loosen up. I played around with the included 8 hole pistons and 4 hole pistons.
up going back to the stock 8 hole and running 250cst oil all around.

Stock chassis plate is great. RCMax plate it just so incredibly beautiful you almost wouldn’t want to run it. Haha.

The new RCMax pull start made for the Zenoah engines looks like one of the best upgrades you can get. Nothing worse that breaking pullstarts.

The 23/19 Vertigo gearing on with 50gt was just too fast for me and went back to the 19/22. This thing just hauls ass with the 50gt installed. I find the big bore is just so much easier to start than the 320rc. Could be how I have it tuned though.
I made a bunch of mods to the KV5TT cage that has the 50gt installed so I wouldn’t have to cut any of the cage. I’m not into cutting up these nice expensive cages. Have fun... these things are a blast.

Thanks man! Really appreciate it. Appreciate all the help and great info on this forum.
Do you have any pics of your cage mods as that seems to be a bid deal breaker for most guys? I was gonna get the RCMAX 65 because I was contemplating cutting mine up, but then I bought another body and decided to just go big or go home for the RCMAX 80. The bodies are rare and limited right now for sure!

Absolutely, let me find a few photos I have or just go take a few here in a bit. The Kraken cages are unbelievably strong. Before I ran the Robby Gordon body I was just testing shock oil weights, engine tuning etc... and during tuning I rolled the rig and cringed thinking the rear fender posts were going to be broke but they weren’t. Super strong material. The two places I moded were the front right cross bar in the windshield area and a short bar that normally would push up against the RCMax air intake. I found the DT1 airfilter was the best choice for this location, it’s still a tight fit but works great with a little modding of the cage.
I used max heat from my heat gun to reform the cage so that it fit perfectly around the air intake and the RCMax engine. Two places need to be worked but the cage material is strong and didn’t crack or degrade from the process. It’s takes a little muscle to form but worked out awesome and I didn’t have to cut anything. I’ll send some pics in a bit.

Guys... didn’t mean to hijack this thread. I could start another but though it kinda flows with what you guys are talking about.

No worries about hijacking this one. Really what it's for. As much info in the vekta as I can get.
I'll be getting the kv.5 kit. The places I get to run, I want as wide a stance as I can get. I want that extra stability.
The buggy body will hit the pike as soon as I find a truck body and cage. (Well have money to buy the tt body and cage)

The vertigo just seemed like the logical choice, once I saw what everyone else was running, and went back and reviewed a few of the build threads on here.
I'm about halfway to having the money to buy the kit. Sold the kyosho trucks off today for $300.00. Getting a few other things listed on ebay now. Getting excited for it. Plus my wife likes that more crap is leaving.
I'd be keen to see your cage mod pics as well. I'm not a fan of cutting cage post apart, and have taken the heat gun to my dbxl to get the tr airbox to fit it nice.

Glad you are making progress! Selling smaller vehicles for a big 5th scale is so worth it. So here are some photos of before I made the mod...

That all looks pretty simple to do. Fits in there nicely.
Yeah haven't touched any of the smaller one In years, save the savage and axial. Only 2 I'm keeping. I have to go through my savage parts as well, I think I have enough to put another together to sale as well.

Here are a few photos of after the mod of the cage. It takes patience to bend the cage into the correct shape but it works, and works well.

Witch 2 savage is definitely a keeper
The xl I converted to brushless is staying. Kids like playing with that, and i can always take it back to nitro if i want to. Still have the engine, trans and fuel tank. I think i have chassis plates to do a std or xl build. I'll have to dig them out then and see.

You've done an excellent job on it!??
