Mic it isnt lead mate, that's a big no no now a days, and would likely melt any way, you referring to a graphite doughnut, and tbh a metal on metal seal is typical in exhaust anymore, my 460 headers have stainless doughnuts between the headers and y pipe. Let's the system float like mentioned previously, just you can reuse them unlike the graphite seals that should be replaced every time.
