Hello, ?‍♂️
This is my 1st post on this forums since everyone seems to be super helpful here I would like to hear what other people have to suggest on my Hpi baja 5sc ss that I picked up 2nd hand recently.
I am looking into giving it more life by buying couple of new parts for it. What suggestions do you have for tires ( mainly run on grass ), looking into also to squeeze bit more power from my 26cc fuelie engine by bore kit, to stroke it or not ?. Any sort of suggestion in a good one. Thank you in advance.

hi welcome(y)
to get more go from the 26 you could put a tuned pipe? VRC, bartalone ,dominator(y) you could also up the spur and pinion 55/19
could do a 29cc head kit or buy a 29cc long block and swop fan cover clutch ect? as far as tires im running madmax bigdiggers they are pretty decent(y) guess it all depends on what kind of $ you want or can spend:unsure:(y)

Thanks for quick reply , guy who I bought the truck from had already some sort of tuned pipe ( this one has exhaust facing the rear bumper unsure of the brand ), I am willing to spend aroundish 200$us.

I was browsing forums to see if I could find any recent information abouth engine mods that can be done to 26cc engine, aside tune pipe I didn't find much relateable information abouth how to choose correct size and model for bore kit ( hope we are thinking of same thing ). I was planning to make a order of a DDM  I 've heard that they are among the best shops for rc stuff ?

you have to find out if your motor is a two or 4 bolt:unsure: then you can decide on what head kit to buy(y) $130 for an esp head kit
52552
or $159 for a long block 29cc
52553
DDM are the (y)best

I'd do a pipe or that esp head kit, and you should have enough money left over for decent tires (stock ones are trash) ? that's where I'd start, then just upgrade as you go along
post up.sum pics so we can see what...if any...mods u already got?
my 2 bolt cy 26cc with a domv2 silenced pipe was quik..?....ran sweet for a stock lump?
+1 with the pics!

Hello, these are pics from the add, I will post tommorow morning better pictures?. Not sure if you can tell which pipe it is from these pictures.
I was planning to buy another set of wheel ( mercenary set from DDM ? ) and use tires I have on pictures as tarmac set and put new tires and wheels for grass.
Are those axle extenders any good, would you suggest them ? Thanks so much for replys. Truck is awesome :D

upgrade the exhaust and upgrade the air intake.
If you still want more power get the big bore kit.
Or get all 3 at the same time FTW
Put outerwears on your pullstart and air filter crankcase?? the exhaust is MEH? it's a pig tail pipe. So $200 is what you want to spend? air filter &13 outerwears pullstart outerwears $24 crankcase outwares $26
52559
That's a good price???
You need a killswitch
52560
That's your 200 done?? you have new pipe= more power your motor has protection and the kill switch will stop a run away ?? I'd say IMO those are essential upgrades ??

Hello again, here are more pics from the car ?. Guy who I bought it from had a killswitch installed, came with shock covers, that "pig tail look a like pipe" upgraded clutch housing and 2 new batteries  .
I wonna buy really decent grass tires but they seem to be out of stock on DDM ( do I have to turn to rovan tires  ? )
You can see pictues of the car on -> Imgur <- album.

I wouldn't suggest buying rovan tires. They are complete poop, the meterial is cheap, don't give good traction, and tear super easy. I'd get some hostiles (if you can find em!) Or I hear the Uber RC super spikes are ok? I also hear madmax tires are ok, proline trenchers are good too

How to make sure that my tires will fit on my car? Rear are wider than front and I feel like some shop have rear tire in stock and not the front ones and vice versa. Can I run rear rims and tires on front or not ? Do different tires require different foam inserts.
What tire compound do you suggest & what source is best for 1/5 tire size ?

So, when you buy a tire, it will say it will work with Baja 5t/5sc rears, if it doesn't then it obviously will not work .1439795163.webp
The Baja 5b tires won't work with the 5sc wheels I'm pretty sure becuase it has a smaller profile (or hight) and I also think it's wider. You could run rear tires in the front if you use axle extenders as they will hit the top of the hub slightly. Not all tires require a different foam, I never changed foams, I always ran stock so id only replace them if yours were torn. On compound, some tires (such as hostile) ha e different compounds, others don't, I cant suggest a compound to u since you haven't picked a tire yet. And my favorite place to buy tires is DDM (Dave's discount motors), great prices, fast shipping, great selection

+1 for going through Dave's Motors. BEST in the biz! Hopefully some day they will get their Hostile tire manufacturing issues resolved and get those back in stock.

The pipe on your rig is the stock SS "tuned pipe". It's a modest gain over using the can that came stock on the non SS cars, but nothing to really write home about. The DDM Dominator is worlds better.

On Axle Extenders: I'm running the Darksouls on my truck and it's a quite a bit more stable in tight cornering situations. Not required, but certainly stabilizes these squirrely 2WDs. Less roll in high traction cornering. I also took off the rear sway bar. That helped a lot with reducing oversteer.

A good tuned pipe and better carb is the best thing you can do for the stock motor. I'm still running my stocker with a Walbo 990 carb, nice tuned pipe, and an adjustable clutch and it's a completely different car from stock. And it just...won't...die!

If you want to go up in motor without breaking the bank, you should save some bucks and get a g320RC. If you want to build it, you can just get a long block, 990 or 1107 carb, clutch housing, shroud and insulator, and transplant all the other parts from your stocker over to it. It won't save a ton of money that way (only about $50), but it could still be a fun project!
