lol. fek em, i ran my baja everyday weather they liked it or not. we r paying to live there, it aint illegal, i do whatever i want as long as its legal (which in fact it is).

I have to put up with loud Mariachi music bumping in my pillow ,so ,I get even with a wang dang of a 2 stroke at 6 am!.....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

If you want to build it with RCmax parts $1000+ It would make more sense to build it ground up if you want to convert it to brushless anyway. Imo. It was that much without quality fabricated parts but with a pretty good gas engine.

Get the upgraded chassis and work your way from there. They have made packs which is convenient.

Consider splurging on a Hercules servo for steering. They are supposed to be able to deliver enough punch. Its either one really strong servo or two pretty strong ones. Maybe someone can chime in?

I don't often sell my R/Cs... still have a lot of the parts/cars from when I was a teenager, but my MTXL, I sold - and when I did, it was a big relief. It was my 1st 1/5 vehicle, and I expected everything to cost more, but after spending $1200 originally, I expected at least some enjoyment out of the truck in stock-form. There weakest parts seemed to be strategically placed where they were guaranteed to break under the slightest stress, so it was really frustrating to have to start spending significant dough on upgrades almost immediately ... after the 1st run actually. After I started having engine troubles I had to get rid of it following a brief fantasy involving a brushless conversion. Once you haul that sucker out to where you can drive it, to bend down & yank that damn cord until your arm is sore & not be able to start it....after that happens a few times, it's pretty demoralizing. Then when it did run (very low % of the time), it was terribly under-powered & handled like a bulldozer. I have to agree with the trash talking about Horizon & lack of aftermarket support....they were literally no help, and I'm fairly certain there was a defect in my engine after some pros still couldn't get it running consistently. I'd love an electric version of the truck with those design flaws corrected, but it'd likely be much more cost effective to go with something that comes that way off the shelf.

1/5 scale is not for everyone. some times it takes a bit to work out the kinks.
But when you do its loads of fun? any rtr is underpowered and needs some extra bits here and there. The mtxl has very large wheels as you know so the little 26/29 cc will only just get you going.

i sorta agree as i wasn't happy with my dbxl....in either 8s or 29cc mode? even though it had a poop load of upgrades on it.....i stripped it an sold it to fund a 5ive...best thing i ever did tbh..?....and my mtxl was sorta the same all bar the upgrades...well it had a few on it obv.....jus didn't feel it the few times i did use it.....as said way under powered.?.but drop a phat or engine in it or 10-12s+ bl power and it brakes even more as it cant take the power with out sum serious £££ being dropped on it..☹...so sold that to pay me 1st years car insurance?.....
the only thing it got going for it imo...is the sheer size/presence it got nx to other 1/5's..or jus sat there on its own..... o_O:oops:...
