I'm extremely excited about this opportunity

No more slowing down in the winter time! The rc market is HUGE this is exactly what our company needs!

I messaged my boss about it and gave him a brief run down. Cause this is ultimately his decision. I can't put how big this is into text lol but he's a smart fcking dude and has managed to keep a business afloat after his dad died after owning the company for 50 years this year ??‍♂️ he should know an opportunity when it knocks on the door. We literally have nothing to lose and everything to gain, we have piles of billet stock all over the shop from flat to round and a very well stocked tool crib so startup is absolutely null.

I'm pretty stoked right now
Wouldn't complain if you did , more options for parts ??

I had TR parts on my Baja from years ago. And honestly, as much as I hated that F+ing thing, they were one of the aftermarket vendors that impressed me with their quality.

In manufacturing, it really doesn't matter. Everyone sh*ts out a dud from time to time.

If I needed some precision alum CNC stuff done, I'd call them. But I still won't use their pull start.

My dad and granddad were both career Tool and Die makers.

I have a few of their products on my db. I haven't had or seen any issues with fit or finish. I do have one of their air boxes as well. That's the newest thing I have from them and it was rather well made. But costly but well made. Idk win some loose some. Is DDM going to send you a new box?

There's no love lost between me and TR. I still use their parts, but I'm not a blind follower. The most recent TR component I've added to my baja is the reed case on my OBR engine. It had some serious aesthetic flaws that, were I building the motor for show, I would have sent it back with some choice language. But I built it to run, so it's no big deal.

TR never built their reputation on making pretty parts. They were filling gap in the early years making parts that could actually make for a durable Baja. Take a look at the 1st gen clutch kits...awesome, and ugly as hell! Dave will always have my respect in his ability to solve problems in a design. But he was also hostile towards people trying to make his parts work outside of the specific kits he built. That attitude was never in the spirit of the hobby.

If you can build a better intake BlueTick, then you totally should. I'll sign up to buy one just as soon as I get a Losi 5iveT.

Where's then popcorn...TR is local to me. Family owned and operated just like Detroit Performance...and for the record far far from the city. Sure, your can machine a single better part. Your talking about machining and not manufacturing. Huuuuge difference.
I get what you're saying here, but feel its kinda a excuse too. I see no valid reason why quality and manufacturing cant go together. Sure turds slip by, but we're not exactly talking grand scale manufacturing here. Plus I know in my fathers line of work, making whatever the heck he makes, the tolerances are extreme, and failure results in rejected work. So failures don't often leave the facility. If one company can make quality, then all can. Especially with what they charge for rc parts. Ill see if I can find the picture of my TR bellcrank. It was obvious from outside the package it was terrible quality. The bearings looked to be pressed in with a jackhammer, from the side. It was bad. Must have deleted it, but its in this forum somewhere?‍♂️

Cool. Their part quality is poop. I don't care who owns them.

You are correct. Manufacturing is different from machining. Turtle racing obviously forgot this. I don't need any lectures from anyone about manufacturing that's for sure ??

Were sending them a few braces and a shock mount. Well see how it goes ?

I'm not sitting here saying I am trying to put them outta business or be daves #1 supplier, I'm not an idiot I realize all that, just trying to to bring quality parts to the rc market
Oh this is a bit worrying. I got a TR billet air filter box on the way. I didnt like how the crazy stu always rubbed up on the side of my cage

Hope I get a decent one
It works great man. I'm just critical cause I'm a machinist I guess. But if I was making a raw part that wasn't hid by paint, I'd definitely take pride and time in the overall finish at the end ??‍♂️

You'll be fine man be happy it's on the way

Exactly! He's giving them a cop out to be f*ck in sloppy and I don't play that game at work. Take pride in your poop or let someone in who can

The Turtle Racing DBXL throttle bellcrank I got from DDM was also total poop. I was really surprised to see this considering the quality of their products I had years ago on my Baja. Lots of machining burrs, uneven surfaces, improperly sized washers for the bearings, actually made the bearing lock up completely when tightened, so I have to leave it loose and wobbling just to keep the bearing moving. I'll have to size a proper washer in the future. Just a total waste of money. I'm not an expert, but I know quality machining when I see it. I don't even expect this shoddy quality from no name china parts.

I know
Here's pics of my TR air box that I replaced on my L5T with the Crazy Stu... I'm no machinists and I'm not breaking out a micrometer but I think I got a good one? Too bad I'm not going to be using it.

I know people who've gotten good ones too ??‍♂️

Why aren't you using it?

To be fair to TR. the zenoah 29cc I got from John has nice TR parts. They can and do make nice stuff. I think everything they makes could be far better if it made a trip through secondary department. The straight off the machine look sucks for what they charge. I don't know what the problem with the bellcranks are, but it seems most if not all, are not quality enough to be sold. They're really that bad.?‍♂️
