Well my original goal was to do a street build with brp slicks But now I’m questions my self due to cost. Looking at $400 just for tires and another hundred for wheel adaptes. Plus I have 3 purpose built 1/5 o roads already. Have $700 to spend from eBay sales of parts and old rc since I’m down sizing my collection.
Hop up so far
light weight chassie
all carbon fiber
batter box eliminator and throttle service aluminum holder

parts looking to get
mad max mx on black 8 spoke rims for front
i have hostile Mx in rears already so I will get the 8 spoke Mx rims in black for rear
dynamite kill switch
4pl receiver so I will get most of my cars on 1 remote
so far thats just under $200 hundred

then a New motor would like a G320 full mod will need to throw some extra money on the $500 to cover motor

option parts 19/55 gearing or kings motor 2 speed with cover
19/55 will keep the weight down so it will still seem like a light weight build
what you guys think ?

If your asking if you should do an on road or off road build, I say off road. I've done both with my Baja, and I had so much more fun off road. Plus there's no curbs to run into ?
Nice build btw

I'll be watching, since I'm looking to do a baja drag race car.
That's the only 1/5 scale rc racing around.
Botajel and others are into the 4's. Quite a few guys are running Bartalone engines now.
There vids inspired me to do one, but I wasn’t going all in because I just run locally there’s do drag racing around here. But I love the look of the bajas with slicks. Was going with 3inch rear and 2 inch front Brp slicks. Just so I can enjoy it on the street. All there stuff is out of stock

You must've been the "NO fun" kid growing up.??
some times you just want to change things up.

i ordered everything on my list above to keep it off road stayed uder $200
O’Neil brothers website seems to be down getting a blank page?
i have A Fg sportline, Fg Semi and F1 that I need to use more often. Fg stadium 4wd also that I run a lot.
2 off road
3 onroad

ok, I every thing is together just waiting on wheels kill switch, receiver to come in mail. I realized I forgot to order receiver box for fats eddy batter box eliminator. They want $ bucks for the price to attach it think I’m going with some Velcro.
I’m considering some more hopups before I run out and buy a motor
1 aluminum gear carrier does any sell a cheaper one?

2bearing carrier for rear hub not shore if I want to do the one piece or just outer should be fine?

3aluminum carrier that goes behind spur gear

anything else I should consider before motor drop in?

As for the hubs, those stock 2 piece hubs are poop honestly, but they do the job. Hostiles will be better, but the 2 piece ones will work.

Those hostile hubs are great, but they require the hub inserts from the 5SC stock hubs, which is not the hub you're currently running. So you will need to invest in even more parts just to get them on. Hostile has non-adustable carrier that's solid: http://www.davesmotors.com/hostile-...andard-or-big-bearing-0-2-3-or-4-degree-.html Or you can go with the FLM version that already comes with toe inserts: http://www.davesmotors.com/fastlane...-bearing-carriers-for-hpi-baja-5b_5t_5sc.html. They're out of stock at Dave's but you can still get them directly from the manufacturer: http://www.fastlanemachine.net/proddetail.php?prod=FLM96000

And really with the money spent on getting the transmission carrier and clutch carrier, why not just get the Turtle Racing clutch system and be done with it? http://www.davesmotors.com/turtle-racing-race-edition-complete-clutch-system-for-hpi-baja-5b-5t.html

I considered that turtle racing clutch carrier also only thing was holding me back was I just put on a carbon fiber gear plate. Which now would be a waste

some clarity here would be nice from those who know... Does the quoted system here still need the TR Clutch housing, or will it bolt onto the stock clutch housing? http://www.davesmotors.com/Turtle-Racing-OBR-Sealed-Clutch-Housing-for-HPI-Baja-5B-5T-5SC-.html

The tr clutch system wil fit the stock housing but would look much better paired with the tr housing ?

Yeah, the clutch system is complete and ready to bolt up to the stock housing.

I built mine out using the stock transmission plate with the HD carrier with bearings and bell. Used a 120 grit flap wheel to open up the stock tranny plate for the big bearings.

So if you want to use the TR HD carrier and bell, you can definitely mod your CF transmission plate to accommodate it, but yeah, it would probably be a waste.

the turtle racing setup looks sweet along with billet clutch housing. I just need make up my mind. Nothing like coming home and getting packages in the mail. got my wheels and kill switch, Tgn redneck filter
