Ok so it does have a choke. It's funny, historically I've had less issues with the non choked 990. I would assume the other way around... Ok bud, get back to us when you try again. Just pull the plug if you think you've flooded it and keep leaning it out til it starts up. Flood it, pull plug, crank a few times, lean 1/8th and repeat. Clockwise leans it btw. Thought maybe I should mention that incase lol.

Idk too much about the carbs but I did have an instance with the redcat when you primed the bulb more than twice it flooded the hell out of the engine. So maybe something let loose in the carb?

Something was wrong with it in that case, these primers are just air purge systems, all they do is circulate fuel through the carb, the main jet has a check valve built into it to stop fuel from being pumped into the engine when priming. As far as I can tell it's not something that typically would be an issue, but not impossible. A torn diaphragm is also possible but unlikely.

Idk either how gas get's in the filter, it's supposed to suck from that direction.
i always have some gas in the airfilter and assume it is normal. when the piston is descending and the transfers do not open yet, the crank pressure increasing and certain amount of gas escape through the still-open intake port.
thats what the reeds supposed to avoid

... unless i’m wrong here

YA BUT that gas has already been vaporized ! so it will get the filter a little damp nut not dripping wet like I think he was saying? and yes reed motors seal the cases during the down stroke to build pressure and not loose fuel/air mixture hence higher power and also more bottom end power.

I always wanted to know why reeds were faster just was afraid I might find it too cool and buy one. ?

Also didn't think gas/vapor was getting through the carb. I've always oiled mine frequently and never thought the dampness could be gas/vapor.

Reeds are cool , almost all dirt bikes have had reeds for a long time , if you pull the coil wire off your plug and pull the carb filter you can feel the air pushing out of the carb when you turn it over .

I purchased my Marder back when I was 18 and threw a reed in it right away. Couldn't keep the wheels on the ground! Broke it and replaced it at a local hobbyshop at the time. $900ea + install and I went through 3 or 4 of them! Ever since I've just skipped over them. I vaguely remember that kid robbing sob telling me I was breaking the reeds on lower end. Like I said idk and I've just tried to not want one.

I don't know how old you are but these guys have figured out the high HP/Torque on these cars now to keep them runnin for a while at least LOL , I ran a Race Kart and that was a 17hp motor at 300 Lb's + these are running 9+ hp at 35 lbs !!!! power to weight is 17:1 on a kart , 3.8 : 1 on a RC car at 9 HP !!! WAYYYYY more stress on a Rc car 1/5 .
