Sorry for the unprofessional post, most of what I'm writing in this post is just my personal feelings but ill atleast make it clear what I'm doing.

I've been thinking about this for a long time. Over the past few years I've gained experience porting 2 strokes and thought I'd like to give this a try. I've got some extensive 5 axis CNC experience working with and finishing aluminum parts "products" that are used in the military such as connectors and electrical mechanisms that have little tolerances and have to be at .0005 thou of an inch which is EXTREMLY hard even with competent tooling "My job was at Da-Green electronics". I've created some hobby "things" in the past such as windowed pistons and cnc ported heads for boats but I never truly thought it would be a good idea to go beyond doing this as a hobby but I see the success of OBR, TMR, RCMAX, ALX, Bartolone Racing, etc and realized that I could be someone doing this aswell. My passion for the hobby grew much higher then I have expected over the past year thanks to Corona and its something that I want to do not only for myself but for the hobby as a whole. I belive we deserve better faster engines at affordable prices. I take inspiration from all mentioned engine builders and Rovan "not the copying part" but what they do for the 5th scale hobby. They have kept it alive by not overcharging for their product and the average person can afford it. I wouldn't even be here without Rovan technically now look where we're at.

One thing I realize is just how expensive all this is. Its not cheap for a startup company to bang out a few products but because of my experience, and the right people I know, I belive I can make this a reality within a few months. See before I made this post I only really talked about doing something like this in small conversations in groups and have always gotten pretty good feedback so I'm pretty optimistic about what I have created so far. Technically I'm not ready to show it yet but I don't mind speaking about it. I have a 50cc reedcase engine original design thats compatible with G320RC engine parts and can work with existing exhausts and clutches. A non running but working prototype will be ready to be shown within a month or so but a running prototype is hopefully going to be shown by March the latest. I've got some more debugging to do as I'm experimenting with port timing and inner reedcase shape but know that this isn't just something slapped together. Im working with people who know flow dynamics and have even created flow simulations to see what happens behind the scenes to ensure that this will be one powerful product.

Only thing I cant do in the beginning is create exhausts which is something I would like to do down the pipeline but your standard Olimat, Victory should work but know they will be a bit small for this application. Might wanna invest into an RCmax exhaust just FYI.

So what does price look like? Well I cant guarantee this but I'm expecting it to be around 800 to 900ish USD and be compatible with the Losi platform and Baja platform. Im going to make further adjustments once I have Kraken and FG dimensions.

So why do I talk about this? I want to be open and honest with people. I feel like people's opinions and suggestions will be what makes this successful. Ill try to answer any and all questions in a timely manner but just know I'm a very busy person. One thing I'm thinking about doing is actually purchasing my own CNC machine so that I could go buck wild with my designs and even create bigger engines. Im thinking about starting a gofundme for this endeavor once I have a fully functional prototype built.

He loves the hobby. Started a few years ago but got into it much more due to corona. He's been porting engines and is comfortable enough and going to make his own. 50cc reed case design and will be compatible with g320rc parts and will be compatible with existing exhausts and clutches. It will be around 800-900 usd and will be compatible with losi and baja platform.

My opinion is it's gonna take lot's of dough to get a name. You really should be thinking how to grow organically than jumping right into it. Build a quality product and send it to every big name 1/5 racer that will actually use it. Your going to want to be looking out west and Canada to start. There is a reason everyone runs a OBR or Bartalone engine, they've been in the game for years and sponsor events. You are far from this sry to say.

Consider renting CNC time to design your products and then have them made in small batches. The CNC's I''ve seen are over 30k. That's a mighty investment to sell $300 pipes or $600 engines without a following.

Maybe link up with some of the drag crews here on the East Coast and ask them to run your gear. They ALL have big mouths!
 
I'll second monster's post, and say look into the class rules as well, most are cc limited. I'd love a powerful inexpensive 40+ cc engine, but people like me are a small market compared to the guys that race competitively. I do think from what you've said your at a good price point, and use of zen compatibility is smart as well. Good luck!

I would start with Ported top ends like ESP does , keep costs LOW , you can use a manual $750 mill to do that ! remember OVERHEAD KILLS businesses ! trust me I KNOW , IF you could figure out how to do a bolt on Reed setup ?? that would be ground breaking , thats HOW you make your NAME---- Innovations .

Bolt on reds were a thing, too many internal modifications need done, that too few were willing to do to take advantage of them. Just bolting them on is more or less pointless in a piston port engine.

True. My top end manufacturer wants to see how well I can push 50cc top ends. I am in talks with a 70cc varient and beyond but "you would not belive how much work it takes to make even 1 crankcase design". I DO want to make a smaller bore engine but current financial situations and opportunities are limited atm. Once I get a capable CNC platform I should be able to come up with a smallbore design based off my existing design for big bore engines and incorporate 5th ports, windowed pistons and milled out squishbands for relatively cheap. Ill try to work with Rofun but no one is gonna want to work with a no name shop in the beginning so everything is out of pocket atm and those crankcase designs will be too expensive to manufacture otherwise.
 
I think this is why you see companies like OBR work/worked with other suppliers for the billet crankcases. Nothing wrong starting with a cylinder design that creates the same power as the big names. That avenue can take you pretty far as I've run the same crankcase for over 10yrs. On and off. But a buncha top ends.


My local Indian reservation sells their own cigarettes brands. They start out ridiculously cheap (prob very close to cost) then once they've garnered enough of a following they up the prices incrementally every 3 months. Now if we enjoy we pay but would never have paid if wasn't cheap to start.
 
I heard about the raminator incident. Plenty of info for me...from what I gather if you got nothing than you shouldn't be promoting anything and poop rolls down hill and he blamed someone who he thought was lower than him on the hill
