Yeah its down a bit lower then it should be, but that will be resolved in the new frame. Got it sitting on factory 460 motor mounts, didnt have to mess with the front crossmember either. I was quite surprised when we went to test fit it. Just had to drill new mount holes in the trans cross member, even the power steering lines hooked right up. The hydraulic clutch was a mess, as that year truck(79) used linkage. Had to make a big reinforcement plate on the fire wall it flexed so bad, but other then that and the wiring is a bit of a mess it wasnt bad to swap. Did a bit of a hack job on the rad support. That will get fixed up this time around as well.

You get jams with the 44 ?

Not anymore. My DE44 was very finicky with ammo when I first got it. Slide locking back after each shot fired, ocassional failure to eject, and the slide not going into full battery loading the first round were issues when my DE44 was brand new. I handload, and I have a chronograph and after extensive load testing I found "the" ideal ammo load to allow reliable and consistent cycling. I have about 700 rounds through my DE and seems to have broken in nicely and shoots much better.

I was going to buy the 44 at my local armory shop and owner told me not to because of all the issues and wait for 50ae to come back in shop.

Prior to buying the de44 i did research the de50ae but i already had the 460 mag. Loading 50ae is very expensive and kinda an "obscure" caliber and didnt seem to fill any niche within my guns. I chose the 44 and i think i made a good choice, the 44 is REALLY a hoot to shoot, and cheaper to reload.
