A stupid question (so I feel)

As you all know I have a black 30 degrees truck and after 12months of ownership I've noticed it's not black black if you know what I mean. So I came up with a daft idea after watching Kevin Talbot oiling some plastic parts to clean them.
So for the last week or so I've been spraying a light mist of airline oil over the body and rubbing evenly with a sponge, and now its staying a glossy black, first 2 applications it was drying out.
So, my daft question is does anyone do this or has anyone tried this??
I've also applied some oil to the chassis after cleaning along with side pods etc in a bid to keep it cleaner and make it easier to clean as we now coming into winter so plenty of mud about.

I do ... I spray everything down with wd-40 and yes it's easier to clean after running it. @Seandonato73 told me and I've been doing it ever since to all of my rc's

I normally GT85 the rigs after a clean down and drip a bit 3in1 on the ball joints, hinge pins and bearings anyways.
But I was thinking this may be longer lasting and a little more robust.

Silicone spray conditions plastic better than any petroleum based spray ever will. I have 2 2012 hpi bajas that look just like they did new. Just blow them off with compressed air after each run and wipe clean with a damp bar towel. Thats all I do and its very easy and simple.

No it’s the other way around, makes the plastic much more durable if u do it often

Wd 40 was for the pipe rep, although it doesn't seem to harm the plastic, normally use a silicon spray or well right now im using muck off. But yeah all well with wd 40 under normal applications.

WD-40 or silicone spray does wonders for protecting plastics. Water left to dry and sunlight is what makes plastic brittle over time.

That’s what I’ve been using for years on my MTBs and RCs. Muck off silicone spray is my go to, dry lithium grease for exposed ball joints.

Yea thats right you mentioned a dry silicone spray and now I use wd 40 on everything. I also read that it doesn't hurt the type of plastic used on rc
