I'd call horizon and try to get a new carby under warranty. Worth a call imo.

I sent Horizon an email with photo. Will see what happens. In the meantime I bought the part off DDM.

Tell them, it was a present and you just opened it and found the carb was damaged they may help you out.

Just ordered part from DDM. The part $6.00 plus shipping. Hopefully I get it in the next few days. Bummer my lipo is fully charged. I should uncharge it.

I will call Horizon hobby today and see what they say. Probably get nothing but worth a shot. How do I drain the tank? Do I unbolt the tank? Is there an easier way?

I use a hand crank pump to drain mine ?..but yeah car upside ? down or tank off?

My man, it's always rad to have a couple carbs hanging out. Throw a new one on along with experimeting with different intakes. I couldn't start my baja for like a month and it ended up being a carb tuning issue. I have 2 cars now and enjoy running a choked 668 on one and a no choke 990 on the other just to check out the difference between choke and non choke. This is the best forum you'll find anywhere and we look forward to seeing your ride ripping!

What makes the 1170 that much better than 990? I should have bought another carb and part. Is it a pain to take off the primer bulb. Can I spray a little of silicon on plastic fitting so the hose slides on easier?

1107 has a choke,where 990 doesn't. I would say 1107 is newer version of 990 essentially. The choke makes it more versatile and easier for newer rc'ers.
A little silicon is fine.

Just heard back from Horizon Hobby and they are sending me the new part. They didn't have the part as normal inventory, but there in house mechanic had the part. They are sending it out today. Great customer service!
