Well Rcdad, after taking apart my pulley I realized that the set screw for the gear on the clutch bell is kinda loose. As a result I have a 1mm wobble (regarding the bell moving in and out riding toward the crank and away. It also wobble the other direction where the gear spins about 1mm also). So I tighten the setscrews and confirmed that it doesn't wobble no more. I think this is the main reason why my clutch carrier was breaking. I will have to test the Elcon again with my clutch bell not wobbling no more. RCdad.... once I fix the slight wobble with the set screw, it now spins perfectly.... no wobble what so ever... your thoughts? I'm going to order a 8k HPI clutch and shoe with 2 stock zenoah clutch carrier. There goes $130 down the drain for the ElconRCDAD said:That is frustrating. Sounds like tight tolerances. When one of the set screw holding the pulley gear on the clutch bell shaft was loose, the bell will be loose enough to where you can pull it in and out toward the bearing about 1mm travel. There is also a 1mm travel on the spinning of that pulley gear before it hits set screw that's slightly loose. I've tighten the set screw and right now the clutch bell doesn't wobble either way. When I first installed it, I listen to what the heck was going on. I notice it was ringing after one full cycle of the bell's spinning. Now that I've taken the Elcon apart and verify what is going on... I notice 1 one of the set screw bar has a deeper scratch. While the other three has minor scratches. I would imagine a full RPM, the bars will be destroyed? I don't get how GTS gets away with his Elcon? You noticed scratches on the sets crew bars of the clutch. Did they all have scratches?
Also when you installed the 4 shoe clutch did it go on easy and nice and square?
If the bell is true the clutch might not be.
Yes, they are rubbing on the side where the set screw bars are rubbing for sure. I notice by doing a google... I find some Baja folks destroying their Elcon, melting the Teflon like water. Some claim it works good while some hated it. Crazy.... I don't know what to believe. For my case, it sucks!RCDAD said:Might want to take a look inside the bell and see where the bars were rubbing.

How do you know if the bearing is shot in the crank with out taking the engine completely apart? From the outside, it looks nice and solid. Rcdad, placed the clutch on the crank without the screw. Attempt to move the crank with the clutch and it won't budge. I will contact DDM if they can help me. I hope they will be fair and nice about it. So far they've been great about taking care of their customer including me. Here is a pic showing the portion of the set screw bar with the most damage.RCDAD said:Sounds ok then. Grab ahold of the clutch and see if you can move it. If the seals are clean your most likely ok.
Agree that the bars should not touch maybe a bent clutch bell shaft or bearing failure in the gear plate which ever or what ever the problem I don't know what is causing the problem.
