My 5B is now a 1WD, only left side. Took diff apart and didn't really see any obvious fault other then low on diff oil and very minor scored on spider gears. Cleaned and assembled all back with 100k diff oil, cleaned the gears a little, still have 1WD. Both wheels spin off the ground but only left side spins on the ground. Getting ready to take it apart again, what should I look for?

Did you clean all the diff fluid out?
Id look for any lose ie bit of a gear tooth.
If there scoring. Take it all apart reasemble with the gears swoped around. Put it together dry (don't run it dry) see if you havd the same issue:unsure:?
I got it cleaned really good, used cleaner and compressed air.
I'm new to 2wd. Further investigation I've found that I was unable to rotate the left wheel by hand if I hold clutch bell.

Spider gears is the cause. I moved them around and got full posi, but didn't last long.
Does anyone know how to convert it to full posi, spool like, wo welding the diff? ?. I know that you can buy and install a spool like.

Want a welded diff? Throw sum good ol cement or jb weld or some crap and it'll be fine ?? good thing u got it figured out ?

Got a new diff coming. I'm going to convert current diff to full lock but not sure if my method will hold up.

Go with the locker? you know that's gonna hold up and then you have a dependable option if you want to swap them out

Man, I'm getting really good at removing 5B diff. Took about 15 mins to get it out. ?
Here is a poor man locker, cost about $1. We'll see if it holds, don't see why not, maybe not for high power motor but should be OK for 27.5cc.
Removed diff and gut it.
Cut 4mm rod about 35mm long, takes place of original pin.
Drill hole, not all the way through, from pin opening. I drilled mine until I see the tip of drill bit.
Insert 35mm pin and plug hole with silicone.
Reassemble diff. Done
