I used an .011 feeler gauge to set the gap when I installed my Killer Bee. Fires up on the second pull every time and runs great. I'm sure a business card would be fine. Most of them are twelve-point thickness anyway. Hell, I remember using a matchbook over to set the gap on my dual point distributors many times when I was a kid, and that worked fine.

@crucialRC I understand the habits trust me I do... i work on peterbilts that cost 250k dollars... when I work on them I'm on point. Everything has a tolerance to a degree from setting valves to using plastigage to measure bearing tolerances. Im sure if we really got down to the air gap it would be something similar to a +/-.... i see some guys take rc extremely serious and thats awesome but to me when we start getting super complex on air gap for a spark plug it starts losing its fun for me
Come on man +/- .002 Microns or its trash

This is what I use. Zen says between .03mm and .04mm is good. Mine measures in around .028mm with my calipers.

I just grabbed one of these the other day for same reason. Rather it be done right the first time not "eh, good enough people been doing it this way for years" not all business cards are same paper stock.

Can't even start the car . Once again fedex lost my package ( vp fuel). This always happens when I buy directly from horrizon.

True but I got my habits from building 1:1 streetrods where .0
1" fuk up could mean devastation or a rebuild. I've learned to do it right the 1st time. Cause it's always cheaper to do it right the 1st time than doing it twice. Torque wrench and feeler gauges are my way of building. It can be done the other way but not my cup of tea.
I need to come live with you for a week to amend my ways ?????

Ok, anyone that's ever built engines for a living will attest to this. Every tolerance has a margin of error range, weather its 0.0005 or an 1/16" Caterpillar used to be very good at giving the +or- for everything in the manual, including valve lash, cam degrees and what not. I've gotten to work on a few high end performance engines, they always run tighter on tolerance ranges. Weather it's a business card or a feller gauge it's close enough. You wanna start talking injector tolerances or aero space stuff, yeah it needs to be a bit more critical. But for all extensive purposes, were working on tuned up weedwacker engines. Let's not get too nit picky over how a coil is set up. It's funny points were mentioned my younger brother just picked up a 75f250. Couldnt make it run, called me over. Points were junk ?. I forgot he never owned a vehicle with points in it. And yes we searched for the matchbook to set them... the old FE purred to life after a file and match book.
