Ok, anyone that's ever built engines for a living will attest to this. Every tolerance has a margin of error range, weather its 0.0005 or an 1/16" Caterpillar used to be very good at giving the +or- for everything in the manual, including valve lash, cam degrees and what not. I've gotten to work on a few high end performance engines, they always run tighter on tolerance ranges. Weather it's a business card or a feller gauge it's close enough. You wanna start talking injector tolerances or aero space stuff, yeah it needs to be a bit more critical. But for all extensive purposes, were working on tuned up weedwacker engines. Let's not get too nit picky over how a coil is set up. It's funny points were mentioned my younger brother just picked up a 75f250. Couldnt make it run, called me over. Points were junk ?. I forgot he never owned a vehicle with points in it. And yes we searched for the matchbook to set them... the old FE purred to life after a file and match book.
