I have been running Nitro RC cars (HPI) for many years, but to be honest got bored.. In truth the problem I had was that I just bought too many cars.. I had each one in a plastic box, complete with tools, TX, Fuel Bottle, Starters, etc etc etc and it became a nightmare to maintain them. For a start, having so many sets of batteries ment that taking them out, would require a full day of 'charging'.
So they sat in the cupboard getting old until this week, when I decided to go 1/5th scale.. I am in the process of selling my Nitro cars and am going to buy a Baja... But one things bothers me about starting again, is faults/upgrades.. When I look at my Savage, I had replaced every 'weak' part (brakes, servo saver, clutch, diffs, etc) and had loads of spares.. Starting again, will mean just that as I would have no safty net (i.e spare parts)
But I was happy to do it and was planning on buying a nearly new 5B, which has literally had 20 mins running for £600
I listed my Rush on Ebay last night and was contacted by someone who was selling their 'tricked up' SS.. He wanted Part ex with my Rush, but I managed to talk about cash and the bottom line is that he only wants £450 for a car which is almost entirly custom... It seems to good to be true, but I have spoken to him and he seems genuine.. And the bes thing he is local.
The nearly new 5B is a 2.4ghz model and comes with a few extra (Windows, shock covers, fuel bottle etc).. And thats £600
But for £450 I can have:
> 26cc Zenoah Engine (Race Tuned)
> Integy front bumper
> Front alloy wheel extenders (Uber RC)
> B&T productions front alloy shock brace
> Orange camo shock covers X4
> Hi-Tec steering servo
> 3800 MAH receiver battery
> Killer bee killswitch kit 5
> Voltwatch 3
> Hi-Tec steering servo HS-985MG
> Ansmann W3 2.4Ghz radio system
> Yamadude fuel linkage
> Silverback guerilla rims "Orange"
> Silverback inner & outer metal beadlocks
> New dirtbuster front tyres
> Upgraded silver chassis and braces
> TGN air filter long neck
> Outer-Wears air filter cover
> DDM racing orange alloy fuel cap
> Clear front Uber RC window
> Uber RC side windows "Black"
> Dark Soul roof scoop (Black)
> integy alloy orange spark plug protector
> Quick release roll cage system
> New ignition coil
> Integy alloy orange body mounts
> Walbro carb
> Orange engine cover
> Orange spur gear cover
> DDM Dominator pipe
> New brakes
> Turtle racing rear shock brace "Black"
> Hostile all terrain tyres almost new
> Baja 5B sticker "have you driven over a nitro lately"
> Alloy rear shock braces
> Orange rear joint
> 4X orange dog bone boots 1 replacing
>
>
> Strengthened shell one of a kind
> 3 spark plugs
> 2X sets of new carb gaskets
> Ansmann w3 box
> Inner and outer used orange beadlocks
>
>
> Orange alloy pull start handle
> Outer-Wears pull Sartre cover
Obviously the £450 is better value and seems a VERY good deal. The KillerBee alone is £80... Since its got 'spares' it will give me the same reassurances as I had with my Savage...
But I know nothing about the Baja and don't know what 1/2 these parts are and I just wonder if someone could give me their thoughts.
If it were you, would you have a stock new 5B, or go for one with all of the upgrades for less.
