I need to look into the body pins.
It is a pain to even put a battery in without taking it apart , if they work then it would be well worth it.
Thanks

Upgrade 9 - Rear Brake Lights:
From FearlessRC Rovan LT, Losi 5ive-T, KM X2 Short Course Truck Rear Led Brake Lights SKU: RV87097s and a 1/5 Scale Light Control Module PN: 85306. Need to find my pin extractor so I can take off the servo plug and route the wires through the center via a grommet. Need to order some shrink wrap and a 3 into 1 splitter.

To attach to the gas mount thing easier than the tape method, carboard etc i made some locating pins (Orange Circle) from M3 Set Screws and used the last of my scrape plastic fender for the mount. If it is too flexy i make it out of thicker plastik.

Roof LED Update:
Didn't like how i had all 5 wires going into the center so i made individual holes with grommets and merged all 5 under the cage. Need to order some shrink wrap to finish it off.

Upgrade 10 - Front/Rear Paddle Tires:
King Motor Front Buggy Sand Paddle Tires on Poison 10-Spoke Rims KMB513. No power going to these but if there are issues i am on the hunt for Front Sand tires and DDM wheels for the Vetka Buggy so will use those if i do.

Pro-Line Sling Shot Pre-Mounted Sand Tires w/Impulse Pro-Loc Wheels (MX43) Part#: PRO10146-13. I bought a 18mm drill bit and used my Hand Tapper to open the holes.

** First fire up and heat cycle will be next weekend and i won't be using these to break it in. I'll use the stock jobbers.

Size comparison:
Still amazed at how big these 1/5 scale are.

The brake lights are sick! Are they always on or will they come on and off with brake use?

Thanks. Fun and frustrating making stuff that is not really meant for a specific RC. I figured for the $$ i would give them a try. Supposedly the brakes are on all the time/dim and when you hit the brakes they light up like a normal car would. Skeptical to be honest but i will hope to be able to hook them up next weekend and will report back.

Are you planning on running it without the cover on the gears? I would think since you are going to be running in sand from the looks of things that you might want them covered to try and keep some sand from getting between the gears, You might still get some but any little bit might help.

No way. I just forgot to put in back on after changing the hardware out. If it breaks i will look for an aftermarket one that is hopefully made. Looks like a Baja one but if i recall they were held on with pins.

Finally found a deal on some DDM Wheels for the front. Nicely machined and going to suck to sandblast them but that is how it goes. Next i will find a sand tire for them and buy some Green Beadlocks to go with the Green theme.

Upgrade 11 - Taylor RC Vesla Billet 3PC HD Transmission

Round two since the Kraken Big Bore Transmission has proven to NOT work with small blocks.
https://www.largescaleforums.com/th...motor-with-vesla-big-bore-transmission.30285/

I decided to go with the Taylor RC Transmission Housing as it has proven to work with a small block like the Taylor RC 35cc V2 Billet Reed Engine and a Big Block like the Taylor RC 71 Supreme. I’ll likely never go to a Big Block but I like to overbuild for peace of mind. I really like the modular design and allows you to service the gears and diff without blowing the whole backend apart.

Taylor RC Vesla Billet 3PC HD Transmission Housing

Kraken RC Vesla Big Bore Hardened Gear Set For Gas-Electric (Diff-Drive) **

Taylor RC Vesla Upgraded HD Billet Idler Gear

Kraken RC Vesla.5 Big Bore Layshaft

Kraken RC Vesla.5 Big Bore Hardened Gear Set For Gas 51T/25T

Kraken RC Hardened Steel Bevel Gears Set for Vekta.5/Vesla.5

Kraken RC Tranny Plate – Stock

Taylor RC Vesla Billet LH Engine Brace

New Diff Case, Outdrive, Bearings filled with Team Associated 1,000,000 CST diff fluid

Grade 12.9 hardware used throughout as I cannot find the grade Kraken uses

** I will not be using the Kraken Idler Gear that is specifically designed for the Kraken RC Big Bore Transmission

What a thing of beauty

I'm liking the dual spring rates you did, I wonder if I can do something similar for my 5ive
Thank you. Not sure of the Losi 5 Spring OD or ID to see what coupler might work but i would say with some experimenting and questions something similar can be done to the 5.

I am not sure what type of fine tuning you are lookign for in on the fly for your race rigs or tweak here and there to a basher. I did this setup on my Yeti XL and it was near perfect. SCX10 springs came in like 20 different rates.

Thanks for the tip, problem with the 5ive is the springs are either too stiff or too soft. Since I lowered mine the "lowering" part is pushing it down with the droop screws so it pre loads the springs a bit. I can pick a rear tire up depending on how aggressive I go into a corner so a bit better dampening is what I'm trying to figure out.

Understood. That is what is read with the Kraken Springs. Too soft or too stiff. If your pulling a tire it is for sure too stiff. Having to go into the shock for oil or piston changes suck but is sometimes what has to be done if the aftermarket is not there. On my 1/8 Truggies when it is in-between a spring rate i would stack washers under the adjusting collar. Kinda like the old spring clip things.
If not, changing piston to less holes, plugging holes and fluid was the next step. I got real good at tuning Losi LST XXL shocks. Frustrating, fun and well worth the effort.

Upgrade 13 - OBR 34cc V2 Reed Motor
This is my Sand Dune RC build and Desert season isn't until December-ish. I was saving up for a Taylor 35cc V2 Billet Reed Engine but this popped up on Fakebook and had to grab it for what he was asking $$ wise.

Victory Silenced Pipe bought with the OBR ** Will go on my TT

He upgraded to the OBR the motor, put 2 break-in idling tanks thru it and 2 tanks at 1/2 throttle. It is still at factory OBR settings on carb. Then he got a notice form the HOA Karens and now it is mine.

** Came with 3 bottles of fuel (Never heard of it), Fuel bottle, some 2T Mix and now i have an extra Air Cleaner for my TT.
** Have to order a Clutch bell as it was hooked to a Vertigo TT transmission.

Well this sucks. The DDM Outer "Bite-Lock" Rings do not fit the Alum wheels. Shame cause IMO they look fawking bad ass. I'll order the DDM Aluminum Outer HD Lipped Beadlocks and just use the Outer ring.

I always dry fit items to make sure there are no issues and can address as needed before final install. I always sonic clean my hardware and parts before a dry fit. The layshaft had quit a bit of machining residue left inside the bolt hole. Every part from any MFG or hardware has always had this. I have AOCD and it might be me but if you loctite a bolt with this amount of goo left inside and have a bolt failure, IMO you can only blame yourself and not the the part.

Waiting on some hardware for the diff but boy oh boy is the Taylor Trans fawkign nice and the gears are butter smooth without any grease yet.
