Lets build a T.L.R. 5b

The body is pretty low but it does make getting to the pull start a pain on my build. You can see where the pull start is just bareley not reachable when the body is on.

Zoomed in picture of the issue.
On the body that ships with the kit the cut out for the section where the pullstart is is angled. The stock Losi picture shows the cut out is more square.

Solutions::unsure:

Cut the body so that you have easy access to the pullstart.

Or

Use 1 to 2 inches of muffler tubing to extend the pull start (y). Anything more than that and the pull start will be sticking up past the top of the spark plug protecto but I don't have any pictures of it. The pullstart I had on that motor finally died and I'm going to end up cutting the body anyway. Booster pipe from Detroit Performance makes contact with the body in a few places and it melted.

I don't think the bart pipe sits as high on the chassis as the Booster pipe. Probably wont have that issue..or some heat resistant tape if/where the pipe contacts the body might work.

ill see how i get on with pull start when im up and running. as for the burns well that SUX! :banghead:
im really hoding thumbs that i don't get burn spots on my body:unsure: says on ddm when you are on the bart pipe page that in some cases the body may nee to be trimed for what iv worked out the pipes are had made so possible that they are not the same shape 100% of time...may be wrong with that statement, do you know

I don't know if the Bart pipes are hand made, but I knew/saw the booster pipe touching the body in those places prior to every turning the thing on and i didn't do anything about it...I could have wraped the pipe or painted it or heat shield...I did none of that...so i have the melted spots that I have to cut out.
Lesson learned.

Proline makes a body for the 5ive B. The stock 5ive B body is almost double the price of the Proline.

so i landed up do a load more on the 5B. was quite a frustrating day really:banghead:
got my G320 put the killer bee kill switch in......first i routed the cable out the exhaust port side.......getting all the wires to sit nice so as the covers go back nice was fiddly to be nice about it. put the clutch bell and carrier on..... noticed pinion gear had a slight wobble but only slightly figured must be the shaft off the clutch bell. then did the carb filter. put the motor in noticed i did not like the way the killer bee cable was so close to the rear dog and guess what .....did not connect the fuel lines:banghead::arghh::finger::mad:
so took out the motor change the killer cable direction connected the fuel lines and then the linkage to the carb was not right!!!!!! F#$K!!! SAKE:banghead::dead: all out again landed up trimming small bit of the motor shroud . all back again YAY susses! put on the bart pipe called it quits for the day. here are some pics of the fun

The bart pipe.....besides them not being in stock when i bought everything....you are going to have to take the pipe and or motor and pipe off the truck in order to access the battery box....but you shouldnt have to get in there a whole lot...unless you charge the battery outside the truck (another argunent topic). If so, that pipe is coming off everytime you want to charge the battery....not that big of a deal though.....

The exit on the bart pipe looks like it sits pretty high??? Might spray all over the rear arm and turnbuckle??? Shouldnt be too much of an issue...would some exhuast tubing help route that away from the arm?

After you put the 320 in...how did the pullstart sit with the body on?
