I agree. And that is the same reason I left. Just too much.
Heck if we were having this conversation the other way around they would delete it since it said another site or talked about adding links.

Blown Rear Shock

Bigger...Amen....
Ok my son & I got out for a little bit...He ran his nitro...T-Max...
I got mine fried up...warmed up ..were on asphalt...he is having a good time...
well I ran it for about 2 minutes with some high speed pass's....Trew a dog bone...
made a field repair...Off again...upon a small grass brum..and down...on to asphalt
making a speed pass..to hit the grass burm...that did it..Son thought I hit water
crap flew all over the place...down the grass brum..car didn't look quit right..
rear sag on the left side....Blew the top off the new shock...and it is jambed good
and missing dog done.....All in 5 minutes....Son forgot to start the camera on video..
Those new cross shocks are weak for the friehammer rear end...I had to crank the spring load down to the max to keep from sagging.....I need to use duel shocks in the rear.........Enclosed pictures......All I can say is that new engine will haul some butt
when gets broke in....I am done for today....sat the firehammer up on the repair stand
I need some 50 weight oil for the shocks....I guess I can put the old firehammer shocks back on the rear for now....I will see what happens on sunday....think family day..
so no firehammer work to be done....I have all next week any way..while every one is at work.........My quite time...for the firehammer uninterupted......
......................All Replies Welcome...............Slawhammer.....................

Don't you hate it when stuff breaks on what feels like a great day? I have left before several times telling my wife "I'll be back in a couple hours". 30 minutes later..."I'm home, I broke six things".

Well that stinks.... Wish he would have gotten it on tape. I would love to hear what you said at each stop.
What do you think kept throwing out the shafts?
Are you sure the cap was tight? Man did it take out the threads?
Wonder if you just had too much pressure from installation?

Big bummer though.:(

Bigger...Not siure about any of it at the moment...My error for not checking the shocks
when I got them...I just installed them...I will have a better idea in the morning maybe or monday....as to the dog bones..I think I need to move the drive cups in from the rear uprights..closer to the diff...when full extention there almost out of the cup.....
worse case..I will get ball drive system...I have not checked the shock cap yet for threads.
....as to saying any thing....some time best not too say a word...which I was silent..
just packed up came home.....Back to the repairs...any way early in the season..
just get the bugs worked out..then play....
Thanks for the reply.....I will keep ya posted on this......Slawhammer

Ive lost dog bones from over extending the drop of the rear in air.
I made those cable limit staps and its been working great so far.
They might work on the Hammer as well.
Im still working on some way to put the HPI Baja shocks on the Hammer.
I would really like to see some vids, sounds like even the short time you were out it was a good time.
Chuck.

Hey Slaw, i have the same shocks as you and also think they are week and i have the twin shock setup, also you have to tighten shocks up before installing as you can unwind the top off when you addjust the spring down...also did you lose the alloy with foam stopper piston cap? did'nt see it in the pic...

I've got to get new spings and thicker oil to make these shocks how i want them...

Hey super..looks like just lost the foam dampner..the rest is there...mild thread damage.
I rebuilt up the old rear friehammer shocks..there now installed...
As too the dog bones being thrown...drive cups on the diff are worn..the slot is ovaled out
...got to order them yet today....So It is ready togo for another test run....
Rain day here...trying to sleet ..maybe light snow tonight.....
From now on you can bet the shock caps will be checked....It may have loosened up like you say when cranking down the spring....

Hey Bigger the Better...I got a whole sack full of nickel's,,,been in the water many times muff diving.....Yahooooooooooo good swimmer......
...............All Replies Welcome................Slawhammer.................

 m diving.....

I tried something new in my front FHammer buggy shocks until I can upgrade. I filled them with wheel bearing grease. They are slightly more dampening with it compared to the 1000 FG shock oil I tried. I thought they would be more of a damper but it didn't. One tough job getting the darn grease to fill the shock completely. One good thing is they don't sit and drip out when not in use.:)

Bigger...You would think with that grease..it would be all most solid..with little give..
I got a repair kit coming for those new GPM Cross shocks....They were a good buy..
but seem to weak for my application....So I might not even use them....they are for the
firehammer.....Only other thing would be double spring setup.....
I am hoping to get out for another test run....Right now mid-night light snow...

Isn't you truck still considered a Firehammer? Or is it an FG now?

If the springs are too weak, I have a few sets of old valve springs you could have if you need them  I bet those would keep 'er standin tall!!!

Trip..

I was going through some pics of my first Firehammer build and found these..
don't remember if I put these up yet.
This is the stainless diff cover for the Hammer, much better than stock.
Python carries these.
This is the side by side comparison.
Chuck.
