Hey Slaw, I've been seeing FG chassis pans on EbayUK, going for about 25 bucks US... That may be the way to go, less flex anyway...

Sucks that this motor went south too. Seems odd, I wonder why they keep blowing up?
 
Hey Trip...I will check out those Fg Chassie pans.....Well the spark plug blew..zip for
threads...When I first hand screwed the plug in..it went in fine about half way and got some what hard to turn...Never thought any more about it...snugged up ...
I checked the inside of the cylinder..it is clean....Not sure on the piston ring...seem about half the size of a new one........Well the marine head cylinder is some what already
machined..I went in there and did some more work.....Who know's maybe to much
those set ups have to be run hard almost WOT 90% of the time.............
I had 1 marine cylinder as a spare and a new piston ring..........
The firehammer is all back together..sitting for over night for the sealant to cure......
OK now as too the FG alloy rear lower arms....I was in error...about the dog bones...
they need to be shorter.....max length is 3 inch's.............
Like I have been thinking for some time...Fg Chassie pan....Mount holes are different....
The 2 Spd is still a no go at this time....May have to use all Fg stuff to make that work...
Weather permitting ..I will be out in the morning...Ready to check this top end out....
I just installed the marine head..no modification...base gasket...piston ring....

Hey super....All I need is a Fg chassie pan & alloy front end....All the rest I have done is converted to fg.......Is the Fg Mt Chassie pan square? or styled like the Fg Marder tapered?

Hey Super thanks for the picture....I found a pdf of the monster beetle & monster mt
there the same chassie as the marder.....Hey it's only money anyway.....
The alloy Fg gear plate is a FG7474 with 2spd complete.......
I have a alloy engine LG mount..Not a FG mount...The problem seems to be the layshaft
...it sits in there crooked......meaning the engine mount hole for the layshaft is to close to the engine......
Now as to the Fg alloy lower arms...there shorter.......Thats what makes me thing the mount holes are different in the chassie pan.....I have Fg dog bones 95mm.....there still to long..on this firehammer chassie......I am using the Fg8484 diff...with duratrac..internals..dura trac ..inner cups ...and drive cups.............
Maybe going all FG rear parts for the diff are shorter over all.......
I have looked for a fg chassie pan(used) and stright.....Some will not ship to the usa...
I guess I could measure the diff holes in the chassie pan I have now and compare to Fg chassie pan diff holes.........Thanks for sharing........................................
So can some of you in lighten me on the fg chassie pan? ..that may be the route I have to go.......Expensive way for me too have a FG.....But look at the building fun along the way I have done on my firehammer..................Slawhammer
 
Hey Trip..I think the pan I have is the same as the mut you have there.....
Looks like the FG pan on the bottom in set in more.....

I did get the new rebuilt #4 topend fired up...Fired up stright on..2nd pull...
I ran it for 5 minutes....rain again..was raining all day....there was a 20 minute time when the rain had stopped......And ya know I want to fireup the engine......
Yeah I an hard on stuff.....when I drive my unit I am hard on the engine ..show no mercy
It will run or fly apart.........Another projected rain day here......I do plan on firing up the engine....Need to get aleast 1/2 fuel ran thru.....then go like hell after that......
top ends are cheap $39.95........slawhammer

Fly apart sounds like more fun, and with all your rebuilds, you are definitely having more fun! LOL
 
Yeah like ya say..the fly apart.....Ok then The rain held off long enough to get out to
run the firehammer for 30 minutes....All was good....So with that I am happy today....
I did get 1 full tank of fuel ran thru...So I guess i can go full tilt now..........

Yeah don't just love the rain........Guess What!!....Sun came out for a couple hours....
You know what that mean's.....Your right..I took the car out for another run...
got in another full tank of fuel.....Lucked out with no issue's............
I have come too the point I am done with up grades for now..........
I will just get what I need for spare parts and just run the car for now..............
I will still figure out how to make the 2spd work and that will be it.....................
I am going to run the car for now ....and maybe part it out..and do some thing different..
Time for a new ride and some thing different........Slawhammer
 
Hey Trip..I think you miss read my post....I was saying..I think my firehammer pan is the same as the mut pan..being square pan.....I did check the uk..there not shipping to usa..

As too weather there was a break this afternoon..So I was able to get out for about 30 minutes more.....So lookin good....Like I mentioned ..I will get a Fg Pan and transfer parts
then I think I will just run the RC Unit for a bit.....I can wait till winter to upgrade or do some thing different for a new ride......I just want to play with this not spend all year working on it..........Slawhammer
 
Hey Slaw, once it is totaley FG then you can sit back and enjoy:lol:

You can then spend you money on other stuff for it ...like body's wheel's brake's..list does'nt stop...

Or just buy another 5th to spend more $ on...it just don't stop...thats just what big boy's do...play with there toy's and do everything you could'nt do when you were a kid.
 
I would say you are correct super..but this is a hard way to get a FG....
My firehammer project just snowballed..bigger and bigger...kept have to fix to make it correct to run....Like I mentioned only thing left is Fg Chassie Pan & ally front end...
then it's all Fg then ...........I can't improve on the firehammer much more.........
out side of a good power house engine........I have been checkin in to the drive train deal
I think I would have to go with elon drive train to make the 2spd work.....another 500 bucks....................I am getting tired of spending money on a clone....slawhammer

Why would you need the Elcon drve train?
 
Ya know I have a zen engine now,,,I am using a CY clutch housing,,,Maybr I have to use a zen clutch housing...The 2spd carrier is Fg7474 with brake on lay shaft...
clutch bell fits ok...the layshaft going thru the large engine mount..make it go crooked....
some thing is not stright....Slawhammer
