New to1/5 Scale..Slawhammer's Project

Well not much to report too my thread..I have been running the hell out of the
engine now..mostly WOT if I can....Want too see if It will go or blow.......
but it seems to be holding together now...So that's a good sign........
trying to get some one to run the camera for a couple vid's..but no luck there yet....
seem's like every one is doing some thing different at the moment.....I will figure out
some way to attach the camera to the Tx......Slawhammer
 
Ok guys..I have a point & shoot camera..not much bigger than a pack of smokes....
ther is a threaded hole in the bottom of the camera....It is a quarter 20 thread..pretty much what allcamers have for a tripod set up.....I did have years back a small C-Clamp
with a ball head for camera mount set up.....But think that is long gone ....With that there was many different applications that could be done.....Thanks...I will check it out....Slawhammer
 
Now as too the 2 spd set up.....I have been checking some things out.....
It will not work .....any way the Fg7474 gear plate with the lay brake....found the between the clutch bell bearing & lay shaft bearing.. there is 2mm difference..from the bearing holes in the plastic gear plate......with the firehammer chassie pan...for engine to move for the transfer gear & diff gear.....the lay shaft sets crooked......
This all may work once I have the Fg chassie pan...to mount up....
I would bet I will have to do all in orig plastic to make work..........
I have read different things like it is not really ment to be for off/road use.....
and more for on road cars that weigh less......I will get this sotred out....
I would like too at least try it out...use it or sell it......slawhammer
 
I was out flogging the hell out of the engine....for about 30 minutes.....
all seems to be good it this point....I will be heading back out later today.......
I hope to have maybe the miss's go along to take some video....Slawhammer
 
Yes you are correct on the one way bearing...I replaced all new bearings including the one
way as well as gears.....it is just as you would buy it new.....total rebuild....
I want too try it on asphalt any way.....I have to get the mounting sorted out....
I may end up putting all the plastic back in to try the 2 spd....gear plate..diff supports
large engine mount....I am still waiting to hear on the Fg chassie pan.......
I remember on the nitro 4x4 off road with the one way bearings as well...not liking dirt

I got out again today for the second time....I just ran the hellout of it for about 30 minutes
No one to shoot video....Maybe I should just get a small tripod and just set it up....
and stay in that area to run for video....I just have a point & shoot camera that has video
capability......I am not that talented to do both ..Tx & camera.......
I have to keep my focus on the car when running..too much to look at a 4inch screen
on a camrea........I will see what I can find here local ...yeah right...better off to order 1
was about 80 degree's out so didn't run for long.....Slawhammer
 
I have a kodak easy share, 8mp with a 16gb card. I usually setup a small tripod but am going to try mounting the setup to my radio tonight. I'll take a pic in front of a mirror if I figure something out.

the mini tripod and elastic bands actually worked out easy

I think my camera is a Pentex 5MP with a 2GB card....Takes desent photo's.....
I checked for a tri pod..there is nothing here...So I ordered a mini pod for 5 bucks it will be here in 2 days..I can attach it too the TX....Thanks for the tip....Slawhammer

16 GIGS!!! Man, you must be able to record like 12 hours of video!!!

Well I got out this morning for a bit....Just ran the hell out of that engine...seems to be doing ok....Starting to thunder boomer's here...rain...so inner net is in & out...
I have a mini tri pod coming in the mail..should be here in a day or so.....I will then see
what talent I have at this one man photo thing,,,,Mount it up on the TX....
I run my firehammer hard..too the limits....yup I break stuff if hit some thing or do not see a pot hole running on asphalt....But that's why I use plastic for the control arms...
All Is good...My nirto sits,,has been for almost 2 yrs now....It is in mint condition
mage bucks there as well.....Cen 4x4 GST...I guess I can rob parts for my firehammer to use......servos...shocks.....not much else will work....Can't even sell it with out givin it away price.......Later my friends....Slawhammer
 
Well the old slawhammer was busy this afternoon...my parts from tower came today...
I replaced the front broken control arms ...like all for $4.59 ..got to love the plastic....
Ready to give it a good trashing again....Once I got all the issues sorted out...and did
the mods that were required to make it better..this thing rocks now............
Now ya can't really count the engine repair work...that has nothing to do with the firehammer to say.......Yup I am hard on things.....I run it too the Max....
Things will work or brake..........I don't do any jumping if I can try not too....
That there is just plain asking for major fixing from damage,,,and big bucks...ya bend a
chassie pan ..see where ya are...mega bucks......Long range weather forecast...Rain

Man, rain. We joke about this city being the lower rainland on the wet coast, but I have only seen about 20 mins of rain in the last 3 weeks. Been working in 34c (like 100f).

ya I am hooked on tower now. might grab some firehammer buggy spares as well to put on the semi. who cares if it's a plastic part. firehammer parts are just so cheap
 
Hey pipe...yeah plastic is good in some places on the RC Unit...Like I have said I do run my
firehammer hard....Not really trying to brake stuff ..but to push the firehammer to it's limits
If any body has had there share of problems it has to be me..when I first got my firehammer..every time out some thing broke...I would get maybe 5 minutes running...
It is all in my other thread....Ask CSP ..about my firehammer...First 4 months were
a real female dog with it..most people would have quit sold it ..give up on it....
But I kept going to make it better...and of course this is all money spent....
But for me it was mostly medical recover..with hands on.....Slawhammer
