painting panels

so i have a paint job to do on my sx5 kit
should i trim the lexan first and then paint ......? or paint and then trim?

I trim then paint. don't know if that's the right way ? just the way that works for me.

my concern is the over spray sticky stuff if i start hacking at the panels it will start pealing off
but also wanna trim first?‍

Yeah it does they should know better then me lol. I've only painted a few of my own. I always run scared of mufing my paint up.

Do this, if you really want, tape up the outside of the body just to be sure.

I've always trimmed then painted, especially on thicker bodies or when sanding is needed.

Thought all bodies came with a protective film that covered the outside so you didnt have to tape it up....?

They do but Doug was worried about if it accedentally got messed up in the trimming process, so my response is just tape up the outside if your so worried

Hey spent the whole day with a dremel carving aluminum so yeah all my brains got used up ???

They do but Doug was worried about if it accedentally got messed up in the trimming process, so my response is just tape up the outside if your so worried

I'll just get a craft knife and cut along the trim line then the overspray film should be ok??

Always trim before painting. This is why: After trimming you may need to use sandpaper or a Dremel sander to ensure your edges are smooth--stuff like that. Why would you want to do that AFTER painting??
