I work on garbage trucks
Oh but i know what they for, I order them from car tuning shops, usually advertised as part for intake. They advertise as graded for up to 260*C which is imo optimistic anyway, that's not the issue. To be quite blunt here those silicone couplers are cut from lengths made and designed to be used for engine coolant systems or hot liquid. The header gets far too hot for the use of these hoses and that is the issue.
I work on garbage trucks that utilize these same hoses and over time they degrade and blow out at temperatures that only reach 250 degrees max.

I like that idea. Wrap the joint, then skide the coupler over it and clamp / zip tie in place.High-Temperature Wrap Sleeving

A mica and silicone rubber blend allows this sleeving to withstand temperatures up to 2100° F and creates a fire barrier around its contents. A good option for emergency patches, it can be quickly applied to hose or cable like tape. When wrapping, sleeving should overlap itself by half its width.

Would something like this work?
I know it is thin but you might be able to wrap it a few times to seal it from leaking.
Just a thought.
Yeah you probably could do that too.I like that idea. Wrap the joint, then skide the coupler over it and clamp / zip tie in place.
Well yes, you can be the piggy.Yeah you probably could do that too.
I wondered if just wrapping it would be enough.
Just a thought , don't know how it would work.
Maybe I will be the Guinea Pig and give it a shot?
