Very nice haul!

It says 6s 8.4 volts on the box

Not sure about why it says 6s on the box . The stock VXL is a 7s (or 7 cell) 8.4v NiMh battery. A 6s Lipo is a 22.2volt battery ?! To go Lipo, you would likely want a 2s 7.4v battery: https://traxxas.com/products/parts/batteries/powercellbatteries/lipo/2854X-10000mah-74v-2S-25C unless it's running a hotter motor and ESC that can handle that kind of voltage.

I'm sure you can find something cheaper, but I wanted to give you a reference point.

Thanks for that.
I got a bit mixed up amongst all the boxes.
No idea where I got 6s from.
It's got a Deans plug fitted so it;s obviously been running a Lipo.
On the box it gives different speeds for different batteries and gearing,
I was thinking about going 3S Lipo which is mentioned but have no idea what to buy or which charger I need.
I've only ever used Lipos in my drones and everything came supplied so I have no idea where I'm at.

I did some digging for you for a 3s battery. Found this guy: https://www.amazon.com/Zeee-8000mAh...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=PKCPA3KX77SJ1E388K4J

I also found a cheaper 2s option:
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/graphene-7500-mah-2s2p-hardcase-w-5mm-female-bullet-connector.html but will need the connectors.

If you want to start off on a cheap, but very useable charger, the Imax b6 had been around forever, can be had cheap and is very reliable: http://www.davesmotors.com/Imax-RC-B6AC-Pro-Balance-Charger-with-AC-DC-Adapter-.html It won't charge more than 2 3s packs at once, but it will work with minimal fuss and has all the needed functions for your LiPo needs.

I use the Venom Pro+ charger for all my Lipos and NiMhs which is basically the same charger in a different shell. But Venom also makes an updated version if you don't mind a little extra outlay: https://www.venompower.com/collecti...pro-charger-2-lipo-and-nimh-battery-charger-1

Thanks heaps for all the links.
What I don't understand is that the batteries I've looked at say Deans plug discharge and the other plug is for charging.
Is that right?
The manual for the charger at Daves shows both plugs connected at once?
Would you go with hard or soft case batteries?
All of the hard case ones I've seen are too tall for the Traxxas.
The Trophy flux that I also scored will run either 3 or 4S so I was just going to get 2 x 3S.

i think I may have found what I need amongst the boxes.
I'll try to find a manual for it and work out how to use it.
