So, I too have pulled the trigger on a 5IVE T—but I cheated a bit and bought a nicely modded one 😆. The seller was kind enough to include a battery and receiver (Spektrum), but I read enough on here to realize I might want a Futaba instead. Which radio is the best for our car? It has the MOD kill switch, so that’s a consideration. Keep it simple and get a spectrum DX5C? Go for the Futaba? Which Futaba? He had it paired to a DX 5C pro, but I’m looking for some sage advice from this group. Thank you.

I went Futaba and have never looked back. It really depends on what you want to spend and what your plans are. The Futaba 4PM is really nice, good priced setup.
I had one for a short bit and realized that I needed more channels for my build, so sold it and bought a 7PXR.
The thing is amazing..but your paying a heavy penny for it. There are also other nice transmitter/receiver systems I am sure a few others with mention as well.
It really comes down to what all ya want to do and spend. 🏁🏁

That looks neat and it looks like it hasn’t been used once!
Rick answered and you seem like you answered yourself as well, Id go for the 4pm if you want to keep it simple and be able to use gyro IF you need both.
Avc rxs always give issues with most of the kill switches

Thanks for the answers—I used to be a pure Futaba guy when I was into the nitro scene (early 2000’s—dating myself, lol), but it seems that modern rc is dominated by Spektrum. The previous owner used a DX5 pro and has lights on a separate channel, along with the kill switch, etc, so I think I’ll have a look at least at the 4PM, but also the 7PXR.

The 5T has about 5 tanks through it, but the PO was meticulous. 👍

Is KO Propo still around? I almost forgot about them... LOL... It used to be you were either a Futaba or Sanwa guy, and then the KO's were a distant 3rd. I think I'm sticking with the Futaba 4PM. 4 channels should be enough. Thanks!
Yes they are still about and I think they just brought out a new system.

Well it is a bit late but i am throwing in my hat with flysky noble4 its a great radio cant speak highly enough and also paired up with the afgrc 78kg brushless servos on steering and now throttle ....... reaction and power are top A number 1..... its the first time for flysky making a top line radio to compete with futaba and sanwa and i was a bit worried cause first runs usually arnt the best but the reviews were all terrific and price couldn't be beat
