Layshaft bearings feel awesome. Notice how the wear is only on one side (the broken side). So I'll have to get a top plate probably. Or bandaid this one for now, prefer to get a new top plate but I only have so much money ?

You will have to spend a little more time on the corner!.....(y)

This was my twin Donna car?? checkout the gear plate wear?? was form feked bearings View attachment 59968
I see that, but mine are perfectly fine, tight like new.

Problem is TR is 48 bucks and then I have to buy a feking gear. All the other poop is like madmax , which is fairly thick but I don't really trust it, last time I had a madmax aluminum part is didn't fit worth a crap and was cheap as fek. I'll look at bonehead carbon but I doubt it's any cheaper than tR

Damn! I've actually never seen someone crack their stock top plate when not doing extreme jumps. That would go a long way to explaining your spur gear issues. I bet the first spur lasted longer because the plate wasn't cracked through until the last 30 minutes or so before failure.

But I've been running the stock top plate for a long ass time without any issues. I'm willing to bet that the previous owner abused this rig quite a bit and introduced some stress micro fractures. You hitting the curb probably just pushed the plate over the edge.

Hopefully you can get a replacement soon. Did you already order steel gears, or do you still have a Hostile or two on hand?

That could be it, the curb I hit the front tho, not the rear. I did do a few cartwheels and rolls tho. Thinking the 5 cartwheels night have done it tbh. That was the same day I destroyed the first spur aswell. No I haven't ordered anything actually, and I didn't order a second hostile because I thought it would last atleast 5 hours like the last (that was before I saw the cracked plate).

I might get a 7075 HPI top plate (upgrade part made by HPI) as I seen a few on fleebay for cheaper than tR. But idk , still weighing out my options.

If you can guarantee that the Ebay option is HPI, I'd say go that route. But if I wreck mine, I'll probably go TR, just because they're time tested and bored out for break cam bearings rather than the bushing that the HPI part is built for. The TR plate also includes a brake mount.

Yes it is garenteed hpi.

It was not the cartwheels actually, it was cracked before that run, this pic was taken right after its 2nd run off road before that, I cant see any cracks in pics before then (when I was driving on road or the 1.5min run off road when I lost a nut). Then after that day, the next day I ran it and feked the gear. Here is a pic from after that run. You can clearly see the crack.
