I am going to try to put the tranny back together tomorrow ,I found my Syliglide stuff ,there maybe enough for
the diff. ,however ,I do use it in other areas like the hinge pins ,ball joints!
I guess my neighbor forgot ,I will call up there an make sure he remembers to bring me some more!

Jeez, now I have to check my rear end..... Seriously.
Mine sounds metallic clicky.
The guy I bought it from says it's been sitting for quite awhile.

I think what saved mine ,was from not running it too long at a time ,the tranny case barely had a spot of lube ,
the spool had nothing ,not even residue of any ,the factory may have put a fluid in ,an it just oozed out over
a period of time ,I don't know ,but I am going to put a silicone base grease in it ,I had always used it in my
other rigs with good results ,I have it in my Mgt. basher in which it is ran at least 20 min at a time none stop ,
it has an Hpi 5.9 engine an XTM 290cc fuel tank that I installed!

Yikes! ?

Mine sat for quite a while, and I just tore it down a couple weeks back. It still had a good amount in there. Its has had Lubrimatic LMX "Red" Grease in it for 10 years now. No degradation of the plastic, and it sticks to the gears like tree sap.

Edit: Derp! you already mentioned Syl-Glide!

Well that's 3 rears I gotta lube...?
Ok 3 FG rears. 2 Adjustable,1 viscous. I think anyway.
What's does this motley group reccomend as a base grease/lube/oil?, viscosity etc.
I see different weights to accomplish more/less slippage/lockup.
I think I'm asking where to start.
I'll eventually learn the correct weight in time,I hope anyway.
Thanks,all.

LOL.....Don't ask me ,I don't race ,so I don't need a specific lube ,an I am not using a fluid like some would
use or what they may use in a center diff.!

In 4x4 types ,some people will off set the difference between front an rear for better handling ,they
may do it in rear only cars ,but my only concern is ,is to keep the gears safe & lube!

You might can start a new thread about it to get a better view!...(y)

I shoved some syliglide in my diff today an closed it up ,I didn't get no pics ,but it stiffened it up ,but turns smoothly ,
an not sloppy ,I will clean up the housing & the rest tomorrow with pics!...
