This is my second post and my first question, I use the search function and did not find much information. I have a Rovan 5B 36cc and I'm looking to upgrade the motor. I've done a bunch of drivetrain upgrades but my choice is between an OBR signature 34 reed case or a performance unlimited Zenoah pro mod engine. I can't find much information on performance Unlimited.

Any help would be great before I make a second mistake. Thanks.

Iv bought a good few obrs and they are pretty good . I'd go that route....don't know the other choice

Thanks Doug that's what I was leaning towards but then I saw performance unlimited on eBay showing their Zenoah 34 pro mod engine with a claimed 14.8 hp. When I searched the forums and didn't find much info on them I got a little concerned. OBR it is.

That's just marketing gimmick. 34cc does not make 14hp. Most of us are suspect at the near 10hp obr claims and we all pretty much like how they perform. The obr has a proven track record for power and reliability.

Scott Finlay reckons HP figures are rubbish on these engines and I’d tend to agree.

Unless you have all the engines and test them on the exact same setup, fuel and conditions the numbers are meaningless because your not comparing like for like.

obvious gizmo still has a beef with said company in the description,
i aint gonna name the company, but fairly obvious who there on about, and nothing wrong with that company either, i have two of there engines

I just want a violent, challenging to drive 5B. Wheelies, burnouts and the power to flip over at any speed.

This 36cc Rovan motor I have now can't even spin the tires on the pavement!

And I agree that 10 horsepower is optimistic but that 14.8 horsepower by my best guesstimation it would have to be somewhere around 30,000 RPM to achieve that.

The fact that nobody on this forum has even heard of that company or used their product is enough for me.

Get an esp 34cc you'll be happy or get a reed engine from obr

It was Doug's YouTube channel that caused my condition lol. After seeing his 5B rip around with that 34cc reed motor in it. I might as well pull mine around with a string

@Milo don't you have the sf40 engine?. I'm considering picking one up.

I do mate and I have the Pro MX340 ported piston. There’s nothing in it between SF Pro 340 and an OBR. I’ve been told that from reliable people who have ran both.

I’ve not run the SF40 yet and can’t wait to see what it’ll do. It’s a Reed case with a Malossi head, not sure on the piston but guessing Malossi as well. For those that don’t know ALX uses a lot of Malossi parts.
