So what is your favorite exhaust gasket? Loctite on header bolts?

I like the copper gaskets with a light coating of copper rtv. I've yet to have a single bolt back out on my rigs and boats

I run the graphite gaskets with a cap head screw and lock washer with no lock tight and then just make sure everything is tight regularly.

and yes i use a red loctite thats supposed to be heat resistant on exhaust bolts,
tbh it still softens with the heat of the head though

I'm using stock Zenoah gasket and some M5 cap heads, to be honest that's all if ever used on these little engines and not had an issue up to now.
Even used the cheap fibre gaskets and not had an issue.

I found the same thing with red loctite.

Sorry didn't get a notification...I don't use loctite on header bolts.... "keep it simple stupid"....no need to over engineer something that should stay simple.

Idk what my olimat came with but its a thicker gasket thats colored blue. Really like that one because it compresses a small bit and seems to seal nice.

Whatever you do don’t use the sandwich style gaskets with the metal in the middle… the outside sticks and it’s a pita to get off. I use loctite like once or twice then it just sits in the threads.

And @Troopermaniac that gasket you got is pressed with the finest koala ass hairs money can buy ....what else can I say....keep trying gaskets till you find one that works and FYI copper gaskets are reusable indefinitely

The gasket has some material (idk what it’s called) than it has metal and then another layer of material. It’s a horrible design and the material sticks to the exhaust port and pipe and is a pita to get of its sticky af. This design is mostly used by Rovan (no surprise there ).
