It will be driving soon, think it will boogy pretty good. I am interested in seeing how long the transmission lasts, could be 1 tank, could be 20 tanks.
 
Guards in place for the clutch, air filter and pull start. Put it on the scale, roughly 25lb with an empty fuel tank. Still needs some random bits.

Im speculating your issue is going to be the inboard center diff cups and dogbones. Thats where 75% of the heavy wear occurs once you start throwing heavy torque to the trans.

If/when I go with a Baja Transmission the driveshafts will be hybrids to accommodate for the larger shaft/cup size.

I’m really not trying to piss on your parade but with those skills of cage building you really could make something decent. That Frankenmachine you’re building doesn’t make sense to me because it has to many weak spots but it’ll look good. Not sure how long it will run though.

I kinda get what you’re trying but personally I think you’d be better off with a crappy clone as a base or a half decent one like a 30deg North.

I think to get what you’re doing to work will take a lot of money in the long run, that’s just my A hole, sorry I mean opinion.

@Milo we've been trying to get the point across to him that its an 8th scale rig period. It looks like an erector set that a crackhead built but he continues to post and flaunt his poor mechanical skills and shotty welding jobs. Point in case is I don't have the skills or machinery to build a 1/5 scale so I bought one and BOUGHT parts that someone else made for my rig. << see what I said there 5th scale as this is the 5th scale forum.

I think you’d have been better turning the savage in to a “Turbo Nutter Bastard” with a top end Nitro engine, then concentrating your skills with cage building on something more fitting on a real 1/5th scale.

Financially more sensible if your on a budget, (judging by your name I think that’s the case), but fcuk me I’m interested to see this thing go and how long it holds up.

Yes, its ran on the bench with everything attached for about 40 minutes. The hold up is the weather.

Listen I like what you say, you keep going, but if want advice and opinions stay, if not then ?and hope for the best.

I think the majority of us respect what you’re doing but I doubt anyone will follow in your footsteps.

How much do you want spend in making this work? Only you can answer that question and when know that figure it should be clear what you want to do. Luckily if you use Baja parts they can be recycled into a true 1/5th scale if need be.

Id like to finish the build for around $600+/- but is not set in stone

Plan on using a Baja Transmission/Brakes when this one is smoked. At that point the Motor/Clutch/Trans will be 1/5 on a modified chassis. Im not married to the Savage Diffs or suspension by any means and the diffs/hubs will be the next in line to blow. Plan is to pull the fr/rr suspension and replaced the diffs/bulkheads/arms with something that is 1/5 scale. I like the how the RedCat 1/5 scale trucks have a diff that is a unit that can be bolted anywhere, open to suggestions. Or maybe even 1/5 Arrma Kraton diffs.
