Cheaper servos?

That's an interesting looking cylinder , is that something aftermarket ? I don't see any type of shrouds from the recoil housing to help circulate air from the fan across the cylinder, not sure if that's the way it's supposed to be or missing some parts, be careful about overheating.

@Polar_Bus those heads were really popular for the 4 bolt CY and Zens when the Baja was still relatively new. They've since fallen out of vogue, so they're not that common on standard displacement motors anymore.

@japhia42 The stock HPI filter has proven one of the best options for racers and dune runners, but there are are other options out there, as Z has mentioned. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter too much what filter option you choose, so long as it is an oiled foam element. Paper and gauze filters will let too much particulate into your carb and engine and will severely diminish their lifespan.

Even I run a stock hpi Baja filter set up on my dbxl. It's hard to beat for the price. And i second the get a complete engine. It's not much more for piece of mind and to have everything you need

looks great, personally id loose that air fiter (wont do well in dirt and will likely let dirt into the engine and cuase damage) and aluminum arms (heavy and if you hit something they bend, rpm arms are the best cuz the are strong but when you hit something they absorb impact and flex back into shape).
Ok here’s the pic of the air filter installed. DSM air filter may require the use of a velocity stack, not sure which one AND you think the aluminum front steering blocks and rear aluminum hub carriers will be ok if I just went with RPM arms front and rear?

Looks like you already have a velocity Stack so you won't need one, just get a new filter and outwears. And the steering blocks and hub carriers should be just fine, I'd leave those and just go for the rpm arms front and rear ?

I have no idea, it came with the truck. I'm not too worried about it, I'll just throw in a G320 when it;s time.

Thanks. I was hoping to hear that. I've got my throttle linkage and 5805 on the way, be here Saturday. I'll order the arms and air filter for next weekends timkering IF Dorian leaves the Gulf Coast alone. If not, It's going to be awhile before I get to do anything

@japhia42 The stock HPI filter is the absolute best you can get: http://www.davesmotors.com/hpi-15411-air-filter-set-for-hpi-baja-5b_5t_5sc.html

You can get an outerwares to run over the stock pre filter, or use a dual stage prefilter to give it additional protection. I've run the outerwares, but I prefer this one: http://www.davesmotors.com/TGN-Redneck-Dual-Stage-Pre-Filter-for-HPI-Baja-5B-5T-3225.html

For motors, I would recommend getting the Zenoah G320rc. It's a completely upgraded motor compared to the 29cc: http://www.davesmotors.com/Zenoah-G320RC-Engine-Complete.html

There are tons of motor options out there. If you want to get something even crazier, the sky is the limit with the Baja. Just check out Z's 71cc Frankenstein build!
Going to order the G320 Tuesday, thanks. Do you have a link for the G320 clutch housing I'd need? Thanks.

Got the new servos in, perfect fit. Installing the throttle linkage and giving the whole thing a good cleaning.

Much needed wrench time on my Baja. New bearings by Fast Eddy’s and RPM arms for the front end. Shocks cleaned and refilled with 40 W from the Team Losi line. Will tackle the rear arms next weekend. Just a heads up if anyone is interested. I’ll have a full set of aluminum uppers and lowers, front and back of suspension arms. Make me an offer!

Just put an outwear over the airfilter.
I got the upgrade from DDM, it’ll be the last thing to go on the truck before I start it and dial it in. Have to lose the fuel in the tank and lines, use 25:1 instead of the 50:1 that’s in it now. Still a ways to go, but coming along nicely.
