Well, I did it. I called OBR yesterday and ordered the 34cc signature series reed engine. (Also known as the Doug special). They are three plus weeks out on engine builds.

I believe I was talking to Dan and I told him I was a professional ham and egger and that i just bash around. But wanted a car that was on the ragged edge of controllability, because that's what I call fun. I told him I run 98 octane non-ethanol and Motul 800 oil. So he decked out the engine with all the bells and whistles, power stack, air cleaner and the good carburetor and bearings/seals. I basically bought everything but OBR underwear.

He was super nice, incredibly knowledgeable and he didn't have to spend a half hour on the phone with me explaining every option to me but he did anyway. Being new to this I didn't want to just order off the website and make a mistake. I'm already sick over the money I spent, I didn't want to be double sick making a mistake.

Congratulations 👏 you gonna luv this new motor 👍🏻
Thanks Doug I can't wait! Between now and the end of the month when the motor will get here, I'm upgrading to symmetrical steering and I'm also upgrading my servos and my brakes.

I re geared the 36 cc Rovan motor I'm running 16/58 and it pulls better than the stock gearing but still not what I'm looking for.

I'm not going to blame you for posting that video of your 5B with the OBR motor in it... But that's what got me to this point, lol

Thank you
I have a gear in question, I don't know if it relates to RC's or not. I know the gearing on motorcycles every tooth on the counter shaft gear (pinion) is equal to 2.5 teeth on the sprocket (spur gear)

Is it the same math for RC cars or is it completely different?

On the Baja the pinion and spur added together need to be 74

On a Baja the gears must add up to 74 teeth. The bigger the pinion the higher the gear.

different waylon,
baja gearing always adds up to 74 teeth mate (y),
so 17/57, 18/56 etc etc as doug said above 19/55 seems to be a sweet spot for g320 and the 34engines for a few of us (y),
congrats on the obr as well :D

congratulations. I'm waiting for the same engine for my 5b . it's been 3 weeks. not finished yet :-( I can't wait for Paul Hedges to write that they're sending me an engine. this waiting is a really cruel thing :D
