Dwarfy - I have not check the engine when on to see if it spins. I do know when all is connected, I can roll the car forward and backward and I see the gears move fine.
 
Engine running but no drive between the engine and rear diff so sounds like either the clutch is not engaging, there is a loose gear or the layshaft gear is not properly seated to mate with the diff ring gear. Got to be something simple mate

Post up some pics so we can see your set up
 
I took it apart again. Will put it back together slowly and go over everything one more time. Will post up picks once it is back together again.

How would I check the clutch no engaging?
 
To check the clutch I suppose if you are taking the engine back out you could start it up on the bench and rev it by hand to see if it engages and spins the gears up. Mind your fingers!

it will help if you can post a video to see what happens/not it will be easier then to solve your problem, please try this, as dwarfy said they are simple build.
 
Hi Wolle!

Took it out again today after some adjustments and the new pull starter broke. The cable will no longer retract so I am giving up on this gas 5th scaler.

I want to thank you all for your help with this as I do truely appreciate it! This forum is awesome and so are it’s members.

I plan on selling the engine with the 603 carburetor and air filter all the other items except for a pull starter. I will be converting this car to electric.

I am going to begin the process of converting this thing over to brushless power. Can someone please let me know what combo system or brushless motor/ ESC combination is recommended for 5th scalers?

I know of the MAMBA XL X combo, what else is out there? Also, do theses systems offer electronic braking?

Okay I have rested and my mind is clear again. I have ordered some parts that looks mangled so I plan on giving this one more try.
