Just wanted to show what happens as I've now found out that you can't anodize over anodizing and they mean it  🤦‍♂️ ... so polished the old cooling head to a mirror finish to achieve a glossy finish and yep I got some striping from the old anodizing. You can tell from the pics it blends right in....im hanging in there but it can be a pain in the ass to get what your looking for to be spot on
That’s unfortunate Rep, but thanks that will save any of us that are intending to give it a go some major head aches! Definitely a pro tip.👍🏻

I appreciate it port but no need as im just learning with different sized stuff. So im finding oxidation i know how ironic is changing the color of the parts darker. So I said fek it and I took very fine steel wool and it actually removed the oxidation and left the color..here's the result... granted I can't get in every spot but you get the idea...
its also impressive its so smooth it feels like its painted20210706_190415.jpg20210706_192206.jpg20210706_192225.jpg

Hahahahahaha your on your own there bud 🤣

Anyway..Here's a picture of it polished more and im good with it and its exactly where I wanted it to be. So I say don't worry about the crazy deoxidizer baths and smut removal just dye the part the color you want and then if you achieved a good coating you can buff off the oxidation20210706_195919.webp

Update: I wanted to learn splash anodizing and I used the cooling head as a test piece and well I think I'm there. Its kind of a reverse but the concept works and this actually came out better than I thought View attachment 75581View attachment 75582
Nice, but would def look never with a backing color like blue
Or even black if you don’t want another color
