anaged to get down to knox track on sat, only had timeto run on battery as there was a big bash at carrum for all the largescalers that I didnt want to miss (and am glad I didnt!).

All I can say is that the new tires make the slash feel brand new, almost point and shoot stuff. Very happy. Was racing my mate with a 1/8 BSD 4WD and was spanking him in my RWD!

Didnt get any vids, sorry fellas, but just wanted to try it out and get to carrum :D

the elec track was flooded on sat so went to a competition BMX track down f/gully rd, mate had a run away in his 1/8 brushless, ofcourse it ran straight into the deepest puddle and just stopped, so im guessing he has some replacing to do.

i got to my second battery before the esc came loose and tore out the fan and swtich wiring so got some soldering to do.

man these things are soooo difficult to control in the air.

ok had another run with the slash on sat, shock cap came off and sprayed oil everywhere and cracked the front shock mount, luckily i have spares.

decided to do some temp testing, ran first battery till flat, gave it 30 mins to cool, ran 3/4 of the second battery, got the temp gun and it read 92 degrees!

What are my options of lowing the temps on these things?

hey mate, no idea what gearing is in it. its got a 4300kv motor, i was thinking of trying a lower kv, what difference would I notice with a lower kv? would I loose allot of top end?

at the moment it lifts the front wheels whenever it gets traction so overpowered, i wouldnt complain loosing a little but don't want to make it too slow.

I would love to run one of those heat sinks and fans but because of the set up I don't think I can.

I might give the slash a clean tonight and show you how the motor is mounted, let me know what you think when you see how little space I have to work with.

Yeah...4300 kv is a bit much for bashing....
3000-3500 would be better....you'll lose a bit of top end on 2s...BUT..then you get yourself a decent 3s for land speed records..

I've got a spare 3300kv you can try if you like...

Ok...if your tyre diameter is roughly 4 inches...
86t spur..(stock)
23t pinion(stock)
2s lipo
3300kv motor

Calculated speed is around the 45 kmh mark...70 on 3s

Count the teeth on your spur and pinion and let me know and i'll get your temp issues sorted..

cheerms mate, ill pull the slash apart today or tommorow and get you that tooth count.

kids room are selling a 3750kv motor for around $65, im sure I can get a cheaper one than that!

that motor looks identical to the one on mine but mine is a 4300kv.

think i might try the 3300kv, cheap enough. im pretty sure thats the one kids room was trying to sell me for $65!

Hmmm...it's geared for about 50kmh on 2s already...so it shouldn't be overheating...unless it's been cooked before..

Heat is a b/l motors worst enemy.....heat= loss of magnetism..= more amps.....more amps = more heat....it's a vicious cycle when they have been overheated...

Give the 3300kv that I have here a go....it's a gutsier motor than the hobbywings...it doesn't get hot in my 4wd truck....so you should be okay with the slash...and my truck is a LOT heavier than a slash & geared taller too...

should I buy it off HK and leave the gearing as is?

its still got plenty of poke, lifts the front wheels when it gets traction and heaps of fun, but i don't like the high temps it hits very quickly.

cheers mate. you got any fans or should I get one from HK, i don't mind getting one as I can always use it in sams or mod it to fit an esc or something.

wonder if the aus warehouse HK has any in stock.

cheers ross, i might take a pic of the motor set up and location tonight and post it up tommorow, let me know if you think we can mount a fan to it. I think a fan would make a big difference in temp, its gets bugger all air flow where it sits now.
