to me it's just a cool toy to go bash with. there will never be racing here as the tracks are so tight. but I can take it outside my house when I need a quick fix and take it along to the bmx track

winter I was out at 5:30 am in the frost. doing unreal power drifts. took mine on the wet grass yesterday and it's all covered in mud right now. I really need to get some crash bars now though

ya me 2. need to put the Castle Mamba ESC into it, and still need to funk with the front shocks. may be this evening if i get time after wrenching on BOTH bajas for most the day. lol

I see tower has the front shocks in stock now... are they really worth it? I actually don't mind the stockers with grease. not sure I want to spend all the money on bling for this bike

Since I never ran mine without, I'm probably not the guy to ask, but what I saw just handling the stockers vs the oil filled, I really like the oil filled. They are extremely smooth. But it sounds like you have yours set up the way you like it. MicroDan or Timmah would probably have better responses between what is better between the two.

im still out so far. haven't had time to funk with it, but do want to get it running so i can take it to the track this weekend. one of the local put a baja track in his back yard and we ve been hitting it pretty regularly. anyone in the MI area wants to come rage some 1/5ths (bikes included) let me know and i ll get you the addy.

Where the hell is Michigan?

I see 2 guys selling their dx450's on our local forum. one never got run, other a couple few times... bikes are so different to drive. I think guys expect to come from car driving and have at it... I see everyone oversteer and slide and push out. so I am going to be alone until one of my neighbourhood buds get one

I made a mistake filling my shock too. put 50k instead of 5k in LOL... doesn't seem that bad really. a little slow for rough stuff but jumps the speedbumps fine... just seems a lot of money to spend when you say they stick... I like the stock ones on my nitro, electric are worn out... and I want to buy so much other crap for the other rc's (got a mamba monster system in my shopping cart at tower right now... cheaper than a main and $50 code to boot). was thinking of adding the front forks but not sure it's really worth it.

i feel once i get my Sticky issue with the front shocks sorted, they ll be very much worth it (as long as i can get the stick fixed).

hoping to get teh ESC in today, but trying to get 3 bajas going and the bike by saturday, all the while waiting to hear about work isnt going to be easy.

Went out for a little run out in a HUGE field tonight. That thing was unholy fast and was popping wheelies like crazy. I could barely control it, my steering was terrible, I kept going so far out that I could barely see the motorcycle. Finally, the speedo shut off. Went to get in the car and found that I was running the 3s for the first time. I could have sworn I picked up the 2s. Duh.

I want a 2s around 5000mah, anyone have an idea of which hobbycity pack might work?

i hear the Enerland 2S 5000 packs work great for 20.00 each. hella deal

hard case and fit in the box word has it.
25c with 30c burst packs too i think.

i want to get 5 myself, but only working 34 hrs in the last month has kind of put a crimp on my spending habit atm.

Thanks Timmahh! Where are the Enerlands sold?

these would work i think (have to double check demensions)
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8357
25.00 each instock

These Poly quest are rally nice packs, and if the fit would kill
68ish each, but one of the best. i think size is about right, but love the downward connections. perfect for the DX battery box!

if you wanted to get quality packs, thse would be it if they fit the box.

Capacity : 5100mAh
Voltage : 7.4V
Charge Current(1C)
Continous Dis.(25C)
Dimension(mm) : 137 * 46.5 * 24mm
Weight : 291g (including plug/case everything..)

the inner demensions of my stock box measure 148x48x24, so looking at the specs, it should fit. May of found my new pack for daily running and may be racing in the slash (if i race it).

I have a 3S comming from a local guy thats a 4600mah 50c continues 60c burst. could be interesting. lol

Thanks timmahh! I heard those polyquest are great.

I'm going to wait until that first one you have listed comes in and order a couple. In the meantime, I'm saving for the Modified gyro. That bike is a blast though. That 3s made me look like a moron when I was driving it! LOL

Hobbyking/hobbycity are awesome. Great prices and the shipping is quick.

put the rig mostly back to stock. had my 3S LiFe pack get funky, have to check it out.

the mods were working out pretty decently, but only having the 1 pack and not being able to toss in a 2s lipo got to be a pita.

So i put it back to stock last night, setup the ESC for 2S and took off. I forgot my side bars, so every time i fell i had to go pic it up. but going to have to work on the homemade dampener, way to stiff fluid now.

I have been using the hobbyking 2s 3300 30c's and they work great. $17 each I believe. or 15? I bought 4 packs. fit easy. the 5000 20c fits as well, but the 3300's are so easy to toss in and lots of poop

very close in size to the 2650 3s

looks like my OWB took a dump today.

have to tear into the rear wheel to double check, but it just kind of locked up on me going thru a corner. almost wont roll forward, but does roll back about 1/2 or 2/3rds a turn then it tightens up too. sound familiar anyone?

yup, sounds like the one way... mine locked up on me at the track and became nearly impossible to drive. I ordered 2 this time... I reglued my biker's foot on and used zap straps to hold it together... I have black automotive goop so covered the zap straps... now he looks like his foot is deformed but he'll stay on the bike at least...

I think filling the body, arms and legs with mono foam was a bad idea. made it too stiff and broke in the weak spot, just above the screw on the bottom of the foot

Even though I posted this over in rcgroups, I thought I'd throw this out here to you guys. I ran a couple of 2s's in my cycle. The throttle wasn't smooth at all, kinda that jerky, cogging when putting on the throttle. My Aftershock and mini Revo do this sometimes so I figured it was the same situation. Well, set the bike down and got it going. It got hung up in the grass so I put on full throttle and the jerking just kept continuing. Finally brought it in and tried another lipo. Same thing. Tried it holding the bike with a 3s, same thing.

I called Duratrax and they are sending me another speed control. They said putting a 3s on the bike is really pushing the speed controlo. I took the temp of the speed control last night just holding the bike and trying a 2s. The speed control temp after just a minute of trying to "go" was around 130 degrees. Pretty fast warm up for just being held up. So hopefully it's the speed control that is jacked.

Is there any way for me to test if the motor is bad? I guess when I get the speed control from Duratrax and it still is a problem, that will be my next call them. The tech from Duratrax told me that a no load test on the motor won't tell me anything (just pulling the pinion back from the spur). It spun freely without issue when I tried that.

only way to check is to try another esc.
seems it would be the ESC doing that.
but it could be motor funking up on you.

That's probably why they wouldn't send me both. Oh well, I'll try the new speed control and see what happens when I get it!
