For me some of the best motors are bump start only like O.S. and novarossi. Wich I prefer to run

Outdated link. I was ready to purchase the .28 8 port and things just didn't seem right upon checkout. I emailed RB and the site is incorrect. He has nothing in stock for engines.

I like the Rotostarts. (until the one-way bearing gets oily/dirty and starts slipping )

I bought a second hand mugen years ago, it came with a starter box and no pull start.
For a nitro, i was hooked.
(OS .21)
So much easier.

Biggest complaint with nitro, trying to restart after a good run.
Like maybe the engine got a little too hot and the fuel keeps boiling and kicking back into the fuel tank.

Starter box, just cover the exhaust and watch that fuel force it's way in there with ease!

Bad part, if your carb is plugged you can damage parts due to running them dry.

Also, i noticed nitro is available early spring.

When i bought my 5b, i was seriously thinking about the losi truggy with the .28 tnt "rtr' engine

Plans started to change when i found that i could get the engine rebuild kit only for the cylinder, piston, and connecting rod together.

In my experience, the connecting rod needs to be replaced after every 2-3 gallons of fuel as a preventive measure.
The piston and cylinder last much longer.

In order to buy just the rod, i would need to upgrade the engine.

The one i really wanted was the losi 1/5, but i couldn't find any info on a projected date...

I saw the truggy came in stock two days after i ordered the 5b.

I also remember the days before rtr started with rc cars.

When rtr started showing up, my view was "lame, you miss out on the best part"

Back then you paid more for the rtr, like it should be right? lol

Last year i saw that one was in stock starting right around april...

I thought seriously about it...
In the end i wanted something that was a little harder to roll over for bashing fun.

Now that i have something (the 5b), I'm getting interested again.

The 3 OS cv engines that just sold off with their various models had way more then 2-3 gallons through them with zero parts replaced. Cant say I've ever had a rod issue. The original .15 in the tamiya terra crusher at best guess had 6 gallons through till it had next to no compression. By that time it was just easier to slap a OS cv-r .18 in it and go run again. Gotta remember bump boxes were made for the racers trying to cut down on weight on their cars. If you cant prime the fuel system in 2 or 3 pulls I would say something is amiss. Jmo.
 
My original nitro rc, a losi gtx with the tnt .12 on it.

I had maybe 3 or 4 gallons through it.
I let my friend give it a go, he pretty much red lined the thing doing donuts and the rod went.
Left a little dent in the crank case, but $12 and it was back up and running again.

Afterwards i read about the suggestion to proactively replace the rod to prevent real damage.

I also noticed the sound difference after replacing the rod.
Apparently that little nitros rod was making a tinging sound for a while before that.

Heard the same sound on someone elses nitro a little while before the rod gave out.

And those rods make fun key chain decorations.

So I need a backup engine to my Axial .32 as I have no idea how / if this engine runs good. My nephew over the past 13 years never drove the truck much. So I went ahead and bought an RCR modified LRP .32 spec4 . Been reading really good things about RCR's work, and I watched a really in-depth video about exactly what RCR does internally, and I learned some really interesting stuff about reworking nitro engines for optimizing flow . Sounds like a really smart guy . This engine should be a great fit for my Savage. Now i'm researching a good midrange pipe. @crucialRC can you give me some of your expertise on a pipe suggestion ?

Always loved the ofna jammin pipes jp1 bottom end and jp2 topend
Or novarossi pipe 9886. But these are old pipes not sure what’s good on the new pipes today

The only issue with the Savages is your stuck with a silicone "slip fit" type coupler. You can't run a traditional curved arc buggy header as it will interfere with the inboard shock.
