Update: the air stone method didn't let the piece take color i had to redo for 30 minutes to get a good color. Probably be best with an air stone with 2 gallons or more of solution ...my bath is 500mL acid and 500mL of distilled so agitation isn't needed

Anyway .... did the billet pull start handle for the boat. Im getting the hang of being consistent in dying...also light hitting the piece makes certain areas darker but its all 1 uniform color all around

Wow, you are doing it on a small scale! Now the heat generation makes sense, I knew it happened but was surprised to see such an increase. Doing it with one litre doesn’t give you much of a thermal buffer (which I am sure you already know). Your getting awesome results, very impressed!

Hahahaha .... to add to that @Bizzer when I put the air stone in the temp dropped dramatically.. with no air stone if I had to guess it was around 105 to 110 degrees

Well that kinda makes sense, ambient air being injected into a heated solution. Kinda like my furnace when the blower kicks on. Fire box heat drops 200* instantly. Wonder if you preheated it if it would help. Like wrap the hose around your tank a time or two before it goes into the tank.

Ahhhh good analysis sean ... just wonder what the bubbles did to keep the dye from soaking in. The part definitely anodized tho

definitely not easy and im nowhere near being that advanced yet and its physically impossible to single out the logo for anodizing

Wonder if you coated everything but logo with grease or something?

I think that would contaminate your electrolyte bath, no? There is a product available from Caswell for anodizing/ electroplating called Mask it that I believe is at least brushable, not sure you maybe be able to spray it as well? It may even be very similar to the liquid mask used for painting but this is designed to stand up to the acidic environment.
