TLR 5b basher

so i placed an order for the stock TLR251010 chassis but also called around and im getting a quote to have one made up locally out of 775 ally maybe in the new year ill have a billet chassis

I bought a 1/5th.....can't remember which now ..And it had a dodgy switchblable in it....so i e mailed lee....aka jolly roger.....an he said send it to him and he'll sort it out.... ....so sent it bak....he fixed it...and upgraded it to a v2 for nothing.......so this is y i only run them now as they r very good switches and u get a after sales service which few others can compare withand i recommend them if the Q gets asked ...he has sorted a few little issues all free of charge!

got out the vertigo clutch bell to day and put on the bell housing. at first i was sure that i had been sent the wrong part!?
check out the size difference


didnt look like the spur and pinion were gonna line up

double checked the label to make sure i was sent the right one the decided to bolt them to the frame just to see
how they will lineup

and all good it has a good mesh as well

the difference is the bell its self the vertigo one is 5mm deeper

I changed to a vertigo clutch bell and pinion on my hpi Baja as I was tired of snapping the pinion thread on the stock clutch bell.

I can highly recommend the vertigo bells good choice

Agree.....my baja vert bell/pinny has seen well over 45ltrs of fuel an is still sweet

Got my quote and the guy is smoking his JOX! $470! Double what an rcmax or mcrp and only 6061. So i guess he is out , ill ask a few more engineering shops see what happens. You never know what could happen

That doesn't sound like a terrible price to have 1 chassis made... local shops don't have a program for a Cnc to work off of and it would take a bit to make one by hand. The 6061 sucks but all things considered $80.00 hr shop rate few hours to make + couple bucks for material.....

if it was 7075 id do it but the stock chassis is 6061 and costs $249

I agree it is too much.... but formerly working at a machine shop, I understand the high price. Better off maby trying to get a stock plate reinforced ?

What if you get the side shields made in aluminum? I think they would help stiffen the chassis if they were aluminum.
