so, ran to the store and got some new ones (standard 6 1/2s, so really most will fit ,so lonf as the specs are similar)
just some $40 kenwood ones.

put it all back together. honestly, these little speakers sound really good! obviously the comparison isnt really fair cuz the old ones were blown but i am quite happy 👍👍

Oh yeah I was gonna ask u yesterday if u we’re gonna do a sound system (like masssive sub n all). Also I bet an interior led trim would be awesome… like where you can control the colors on ur phone or something like that.

Did u check the rest?
probably not. currently the sound system is pretty decent (it is lexus' "premium sound"). if i were to do anything more it would be rear door speakers and the front tweeters but , i wont be doing that because to change the tweeters you have to take out the entire dashboard. so just gunna leave it alone. and believe it or not, the single 8 inch sub in the car is pretty nuts. i don't know if the rear door speakers are blown, probably not (i have never heard of someone blowing the rears, as they don't really do too much anyway). but ill probably check em some day soon. as for the led thing , maybe just a little bit, like how this guy did it, and probably in green like how he did it (the rest of the lights in the car are green) . very similar to the mercedes S class/ Bmw 5/7 series . i want it to match the period of this car and match the styling.

that first pic you posted is badass though. that's the bmw 8 series with the Bang & Olufsen sound system and ambient lights. total dream car

okay so i have overlooked something 🙄 in my haste i failed to realize that the speakers i bought are 4 ohm (like what a NORMAL FECKING CAR USES) , when i actually need 8 ohm speakers . EDIT:just going to rebuild the stockers. as they still work and sound decent. found a kit for 20 bucks and gunna give it a try

Rebuilt the fancy "Mark Levinson" speakers today with a rebuild kit i bought online.
first soldered new wires on it (somebody cut them for whatever reason)
20210930_194810.jpg
20210930_200253.jpgthen put the new foam surrounds on them.

look pretty solid now. got to wait 24hrs for the glue to dry, then install them in the car and test them . these speakers seem like they would be good. decent sized magnet, pretty much zero play in the voice coils. they were a 2000 option back in the day. so we will see. im also going to try to work out an aux cable in the car. currently im utilizing a bluetooth transmitter to play my music and the sound quality is kinda fuzzy . so i think that will fix the fuzzyness

so ive done some work on the lexie this weekend. still working on the aux cable cuz the guys video sucks balls. but anyways.
first off i put the stock speakers back in (no pics) , and they sound waaaay better then the aftermarket ones, and night and day compared to when they were blown (before the voices in music would be muffled and sound like ass) . so happy with that. then, i have had a pretty nasty rattle in the sub for the longest time, so i took it out

the found that it was only held on with 2 bolts out of 4 for whatever reason

heres compared to a stock bmw sub
