it is 4wd, i took an fs 4-bolt put in a cy crank, fast eddy's bearings ,match ported the crankcase and intake. it is running a walbro carb(668) and the pipe is an fs pipe. it is running dual steering servos and steel c&d gears. i will be adding Imex's new alloy upper and lower arms soon too.when they are built right you can get a lot of car for little investment!

we have loaned out our video camera, as soon as we get it back i will post some vids!

what are all the parts that you used?

I have a junk fs motor that I don't know what I want to do with, how has the motor held up after being rebuilt?

Is there any type of lub you can but on the exposed metal gears in the middle, its basiclly a diff gear exposted with no lubercation

LHS guy says to use bar soap, as in the soap you use to wash your hands with. says it lubes gears and does not attract dirt.

Hi you say soap bar mmm well that's a first could be worth a try but im a bit dubious about that and if it gets wet you will be for ever blowing bubbles lol:lol:

I need to find a set of fs mt wheels and tires and FS RACING never has them in stock does anyone know where i can git a set?

I was going to run my buggy this weekend, but I took it out yesterday to get the motor tuned, and the tranny gears ended up shreading, the cause a metal e-clip falling off. I was going to replace the parts with mcd, but the mcd parts looked very different.

git the steel gears they are the best.

if you do get an hpi try to get an ss or a 5t.since getting my ss i have learned what it is like to actually be able to run hard without the concern of my truck making it thru a tank.my 5b has been the most cost efficient rc i have ever owned!no more clones for me,selling that fs of mine was a terrible expience. from here on out i will not invest that much time into something that offers no way of getting any of your investment back.

I agree 100% I'm on my way to a 5t, I've got to much $$ and time in my fs, and my buddy has a 5b fer about 6 months and broke sumthin 1 time but that was a factory defect, and sumthin happens to mine everytime,so I'm dome with the fs deal.I still lik it tho.

Lack of money and more important stuff will keep me from a new r/c right now, I should have did some more reseach before I bought the fs( spur of the moment buy) If I would have taken my time at I start I think I would have had a better experence. The only major problem is my motor blowing up, but it could have been my fault.

I boiled them when I dyed them, I hit a tree a few days ago, I just noticed the bent chassis last night. These are the first plastic parts that I have broken, If I would have stopped after the first borken part, I think I would have been fine, but I did not have the parts and I just filled the gas tank. I am replacing things with mcd when ever I can.

FS truck

I bought my FS King Kong truck from a vendor on ebay. I bought it for a crazy low price of $427 including the shipping. Initially, the truck was a disaster. I did not make it through one tank without something breaking. The radio is basically garbage and doesn't respond well. The truck arrives with only one underpowered steering servo - replace it immediately with two good Hitec metal gear servos -spend the money on the good ones, its worth it. Also replace the throttle/brake servo. The differential went out on the first run. Go to the FSRACINGUSA.COM website and download the diff rebuild page. I ordered the 4wd kit to offset the power of the 30cc engine. The Chinese differentials come with bad grease and are not sealed properly. Rebuilt both diffs right away using quality grease. You may want to consider using MCD diff pins - I believe the metal quality is better but I have not needed to rebuilt it again. Next time it happens, I will use the MCD pins. I went with a nice Spectrum radio with the built in fail safe - great response. LARGESCALERC has the aluminum mount for the servos to fit hitec servos - you will need that also. I also added a high performance air filter - remember to oil it and buy some outerwear covers for the airfilter and pull start cover. Also, let the airfilter sit for 20minutes on a rag after oiling it before installing - you don't want the excess oil to drip on the chassis. There is quite a bit of debris that collects here. I added a Jetpro exhaust and now it really flies ! The E03 version of the Jetpro exhaust for the MCD fits best on the FS King Kong and it does not hit the rear tire but you will have to do some modifications on the mounting bracked. I used several zip ties to hold the mounting to the shock mount towers. I also recommend the RC upgrade screw kit for MCD. The stock screws are CHEAP and will strip out on you. Replace them and you will thank yourself later. I have $1000 invested in the truck now but it runs awesome - always starts up, unlike nitro. It will spin the tires and rip up turf with all the modifications. I had a rough start with this truck but it is awesome now. I do not recommend it for a beginner to RC. I have several years experience with Nitro and electric trucks before this. Once you go to large scale, you will see the gas powered trucks are the way to go.

Hi there usedeqeric
Good to know that you kept with it and didnt sell it on like a few other guys i know.Me and my friend have been working on these cars for the last 20 months or so working with fsracing usa helping out on the mods like for instance the diff mods. Also we have bean working on some alloy parts for these cars like alloy diffs and original servo trays which fit direct with no mods needed along with other things like a diff brace ,wishbone brace rear wing mounts lowwer and upper wishbones and a modification to the diff that we have tried out for the last month and seams to of solved the diff problem with these cars also mcd cars.we tried it out on my other friends mcd race runner and hes happy as can be he said that he couldn't understand why fs or mcd did not come up with this is beyond him doh any way check my post over at
oh reason why i put a link in here is because i asked the mods here to make a thread only for the fs racing cars just like nutech but i got know answer from them so we started our own forum hence the link
